Pretty much what I have. My CPU's only clocked to 4, but my GPU is way overclocked because it's an MSI Twin Frozr III design.

Then beyond that I've got 16 gigs of DDR-1600 RAM and 5TB of HDD space (though 1.5 is currently out of commission...)

A ridiculous powerful Alienware laptop that weighs at least 30 pounds.

My school calculated it's cost into my tuition. It will cost me a fair bit once I have to pay for it, especially if you include interest.

May I ask why acer for the display? At newegg, you can get a similarly sized ASUS for the same price, sometimes less.

Well, I haven't looked lately, but I can get it for $123 at my work. (Micro Center) I was looking at the Asus for about $160, the only realy difference is a 5ms vs a 2ms GTG. Not really sure if thats going to make much difference, and if I buy two of them thats $60+ more in price.

Vaio F series laptop

2.2 GHz i7-2670QM (3.1 GHz with Turbo Boost), 640 GB HDD, 6 GB RAM, GeForce GT 540M (1 GB), 16.4 inch LED display, Blu-ray disc drive (read only - DVD/CD read & write), Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, weighs about 7 pounds. Came with Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 10.0, ACID Music Studio 8.0, and Sound Forge Audio Studio 10.0 preinstalled.

Cost ~US$1200, shipped to my doorstep overnight.

And yes, I have my reasons for needing a laptop instead of a desktop.

Oh, and battery life in my link is a ridiculous lie. The second I pull the plug at max. brightness without anything running, I'm lucky to get a little under 2 hours. lol

Phenom II X6 1090T, Gigabyte GA-MA790X-UD4, 8GB DDR2-800, 2x500GB drives, Radeon 5850, Vista Ultimate x64.

Probably cost me over time around $1000. Can't really say. Last upgrade was the Phenom II X6 and that cost me $180 net, brought from the US. Hmmm, actually the cooler for that was the last upgrade (the stock one sucked), and that probably cost me like $40.
