Don't have a rig of my own yet, here's my bro's prebuilt specs

Phenom II x4 965 @ 4ghz
4gb ddr3 1600
Nvidia GTX 560 ti
Some generic 700w psu, think the brand is Xion

Ran him about $900. Could've gotten it for much cheaper if he built it. I'll be getting an i5 3570k Ivy Bridge build, consisting of either an HD 7870 or the Kepler equivalent, HAF 922 case, Corsair 750w, etc etc etc. Prob will run me around $1100.

A store-bought piece of shit. Cost me around $300 in 2009. I am astonished that it even runs BF3.

Custom-built my PC... MSI motherboard with USB 3.0 buses, 8gb RAM DDR3, and Phenom x6 (six cores) @ 3.2 GHZ (total of ~19GHz). 650-700 watts Coolermaster PSU, I recall. The case itself is a Coolermaster nVidia special edition that I bought a few months prior to the hardware.

I'd add the harddrive, but it was the store one (yeah, there's still some vanilla in there. Sometimes I think about it and to other people I'm staring at the wall for an eternity). It's only 465 GB, so two years ago I got myself a 1.5TB external hard-drive - it was affordable, 150 CAD I think... The only problem being that it needs to be connected to the power grid.

I managed to keep the cost under 500€ by changing everything myself but my graphics card, an nVidia 1GB 9600 GT is getting old and I'll change it sooner or later, getting the price up to 500€ easily.
