I had beer once. It was the closest thing I had to cow piss. It was high quality stuff too.

Nah, there are only Norman cows here. Might just be the grass.

you wont feel half a bottle of beer thats hardly anything. if you soldier up and drink 1-2 full ones then you will be able to drink more and it wont bother u. but yes generally it tastes like ass.

I'm with you. I've never liked beer. I've never felt the need to acquire a taste for something I don't enjoy when there's so many things I do enjoy. There are plenty of drinks that taste MUCH better to me that are appropriate for situations where I'm not trying to get drunk and others that are for when I want to get drunk (very rarely).
I also constantly get the advice that I just need to try more beer because there's good stuff out there. I think people fail to realize that the only reason they eventually find something they like is because they keep drinking beer to find something they like. Eventually they stop hating it and find something that's "ok". I've tried several different beers on the recommendation of people that are beer aficionados. The best of them was something I could stand to drink about half a glass of.

That is exactly what I think. And I've tried quite a few too, but all of them have the same basic taste after all. If you don't like that, you're done for.
The same taste differences can be made for chocolate, pasta, and even pancakes if you want! They will offer different tastes to the connoisseur depending on the recipe, but it'll still be globally the same tastes to the newbie.
Fun story: after hearing so many stories about how good beer was, I had figured it had no other choice than to be a sugary drink, tasting much like honey and cereals. Oh god was I wrong. It's so bitter, and the bubbles... not a feld in which you can truly taste, if you ask me.

I dont know, try apple/pear cider beer- That shit has real flavor. - I tend to lean towards amber beers myself but i can see why people dont enjoy the flavor. There are a couple of local breweries near my place so its not too often i have "bad" beer.

Which can be said about every product ever made. So what was your point again?

"People other than me like things I don't like, so it must be overrated!"

I hate beer too. Tastes like shit, smells like shit and makes me feel like shit.

I feel like this entirely depends on which beer you tried. If you tried Bud Light or something then yeah, beer's pretty gross. But there are plenty of excellent beers out there! I used to be of the same opinion as you are until I branched out; now I have a beer drawer in my fridge. :) Don't be afraid to keep trying new things.

I guess I'll just disregard the US winning world beer cups. You obviously hadn't had any Michigan beers. It puts every else to shame. To fucking shame.

The best craft brews in the world come from the US. Yay for generalizing all American beer from cheap mass-produced mega-breweries.

Well - you don't have to like drinking. It isn't good for you etc. but I'd also say - that'd be like me playing BRINK, not liking it and just being like "Well, I guess I hate video games."
Alcoholic beverages are so incredibly different it would make your head spin. (Alcohol jokes!) Even just 'beer' has so many thousands if not millions of iterations that trying just 1 is a super useless sample size. A lot of people I've met didn't like dark beers to start off with, so I'd start with a lighter beer, or maybe a mid-range Hefeweizen sort of thing. Move on from there.
(And again - if you don't like it, just don't do it. You shouldn't have to defend NOT drinking.)

If you got an American Beer then yeah, it sucks. Americans mostly promote "Light" beer... WHO DRINKS "LIGHT" BEER?!?!?!?! When I tried beer for the 1st time I didn't liked it. But after trying many and different beers I found beers that I enjoyed and really liked. Favorite one? Beelzebub. Try and taste many different ones and develop your taste before saying that all are bad. (PS: 20 before drinking beer??? Wow... really old to try beer O.o )

Aside from the crap that saturates the North American market, There are some excellent craft beers. Not many of them reach us down in NZ, but I've had a few nice IPAs from Dogfish Head, and the Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout is an excellent brew! It's just a shame that when people think of US beer, many only think of the generic mass-produced brands, which are universally awful.

and it was the ugliest thing I ever drank in my life (yes it was cold).
-Not even the slightest buzz effect after drinking half of the bottle, took me a few sips of wine to feel it.
-It tastes like ass, I wanted to puke.
I officially give this title to beer - the most overrated thing on the planet.
Wine and Champagne is much better IMO even though I think alcohol overall is overrated as hell.
BTW I'm 20 years old male.
