Brewing beer is an art, don't give up just because you didn't like your first try, go out there and taste all the flavors!

I'm 20 and I drank beer for the very first time also this year. It tasted like some weird mineral water (no, I'm not American :D ), I felt it, my legs were a bit "free". I've drunk about 25 beers so far, the taste is somewhat better but I can't drink much (only about 4 bears). I've never drunk any alcohol that would taste me, after drinking I don't feel less nervous or so, the effects are only physical. :D

Cider ftw, Kopperberg even tastes like pear ice called Twinni which they sell here in Austria xD

Haven't got that here, as far as I know. I tried all the Somersbies available here (Pear, Apple and Blackberry). Love the Blackberry and Pear, Apple not so much. Also have inCider available here, dunno whose brand that is, never tried tho. Also tried Bacardi Breezer, which was listed under Cider as well. Not bad either but it's just like juice. Tried Melon and Orange taste, Melon is nice, Orange is just like orange juice. Gonna try Kopperberg if I find it. :D

^ this. The Miller/Budweiser/Whatever it was that you drank is not representative of every beer. If you don't like bitterness (which will grow on you and you will eventually love it) then try a stout, a Scotch ale or a wheat beer.

Austrian beer is probably better :P
Though I'm not much of a beer drinker either (the freaking last bit of the beer and also after 3 I can't really drink more), and I also dislike red wine, white wine isn't that bad, but overall who the fuck needs alcohol anyway, I mean I drink it but only because people keep inviting me to drinks I don't really buy them myself xD
And I'm allowed to drink beer for 6 years now (you can drink weak alcohol when you get 16 here).

Considering there are different types of beer (not to mention beers with mead etc., I'm just talking about lagers, ales, stouts...) and you didn't like ONE of them (not to mention the difference in quality - let's say you drank some shit cola for 10 cents, you obviously hated it, so all colas are shit? Come on.), yet you claim it to be the most overrated drink in the world while also having played Black Ops II for over 500 hours...
Anyway, I didn't like my first beer as well. I was... 15 back then and shouldn't be even drinking beer, but that's another thing. Now, that I've tried plenty of small brewery beers or some quality foreign beers (Belgian, for example), I don't like that one particular beer as well, it was shit (Żywiec btw, please don't be butthurt, fellow Poles).
This thread is so attention seeking... well, I fell for it.

Come to belgium 250 GOOD beers available :) The brand is very important. what is light (blond) beer or dark(brown) beer. Some examples of good beer: Duvel, Hoegaarden, Chimay, Orval, Westmalle, Kwak, Jupiler, cristal, kriek, Geuze, etc. You can look it up on google just type "Belgian beers". Be careful though most of these beers do have a high alcohol percentage so do not drink to fast or you cant stand :) A friend from the UK came to Belgium ( he drank regularly English beer) and the first time he drank a pint of jupiler ( normal beer but much stronger than that urine beer called heineken) and after that pint he was soo drunk we had to drag him back to his hotel room..

personally I do not like stella artois but you can try it, though i would recommend you visit Belgium. Stella is too expensive for what you can get. Was a couple of times in the US and there they asked 15 DOLLARS for 1 lousy stella artois. In Belgium its about 2 dollars for 1 stella artois. Usually i drink dark beers, but has higher alcohol percentage.

I don't really like beer that much (like others said, the majority of what you find is cheap garbage), so I educated myself to enjoy a good whiskey or rum much more than beer.

Champagne is massively over-rated if you ask me.
Some beers are really nice (good English Real Ales, especially bitters are excellent if you ask me) but then there are the cheap shitty beers and lagers (Fosters / Carling / Carlsberg etc.) that are horrendous unless you're already drunk.
The worst alcoholic drink I know? White rum. Or Red Bull Eliminator...

Yeah, I don't like champagne either. Way too fizzy for my taste.

My friend, all alcohol tastes like ass. That is, until you drink enough of it to deaden your taste awareness towards it.
This is why I don't drink. That shit is awful expensive just for an exercise in forced-tolerance. That's good money I could be pooling for my next game! D:

Thirty.
I've tried a good number of beverages but really none of them appeal to me. It always tastes like the alcohol is separate to the drink itself, like it just isn't meshing very well (on top of being bitter and not in a good way). It's like somebody mixed in an ingredients that just clashes badly, like adding tomato sauce to cereals or sharp vinegar to a sweet mousse. The problem is that until you force yourself to acclimatise, it will always stand out like that (no matter how much some people will insist "you can't taste it!"). Plus I'm really picky, and I hate most clinging after-tastes with a passion, in the same way I hate clammy hands or a stuffy nose, haha.
Though, I suspect everyone constantly pestering me like a particularly rude swarm of flies to "try some of this" all the time when younger played a part in my aversion. I just prefer to enjoy my food/drink. Broadening your palette is one thing, but having to 'tolerate' what you ingest for a length of time just to begin enjoying it is a bit of a fools errand, in my opinion~

I'm the same way. In most drinks I can taste the alcohol and just don't like it. My preferred drinks are either mixed drinks with a heavy emphasis on the non-alcoholic portion for most drinking or some sort of liquor if I'm aiming to get wasted. The only drink I've had where I genuinely didn't taste the alcohol was orange juice mixed with Bacardi Limon. I'm not sure what the ratio was.

I've heard a prostitute's perineal area can be a bit of an acquired taste. It would probably vary a lot, according to the various combinations of STDs and the level of disregard towards health and cleanliness standards.
I'll take your word for it and stick with beer, if you don't mind.

Join the club, i find beer (extremely bitter for me) and alcoholic drinks in general to be something a lot more cultural than anything else, kind of like cigarettes.
There are some exceptions however, as always. (a cigar's smell is exquisite, as well as a good wine)

I also don't like beer much but all I had was probably the cheap stuff.
If that amount of beer caused you to feel anything, you are a featherweight.
I agree but you kind of get used it (I still don't like it)
I kind of agree but again, i only had the cheap stuff.
Same here.
ps. I barely even drink.

and it was the ugliest thing I ever drank in my life (yes it was cold).
-Not even the slightest buzz effect after drinking half of the bottle, took me a few sips of wine to feel it.
-It tastes like ass, I wanted to puke.
I officially give this title to beer - the most overrated thing on the planet.
Wine and Champagne is much better IMO even though I think alcohol overall is overrated as hell.
BTW I'm 20 years old male.
