It depends on where you live and how expensive the beer was :P... 'Murica = shittiest beers ever, Central Europe = Best beers ever

Oh well...they might have a few good beers too ;D

I don't really like beer, though "beer+snacks" combo can be really good depending on which beer and which snacks are involved. If you want to get an adequate image of why do people like beer though, go to some nice beerhouse that has its own brewery, check the source code of this post and get a pint of draught with snacks of your choice. Getting into fight with some drunk bikers is optional yet strongly advised.

You have 20 years and never tried beer before? o.O
Only bad think about beer is the feeling you have the day after you get drunk :D

24, never drank a beer, smells gross, well I hate the smell of any alcohol so I never have drank any, thats how I am wired, smells bad = Not gonna taste it.

Nah, I have smelled those, still smells bad to me(The smell of alcohol shines through), comparable to someone who puts on perfume but still smells like ass because in reality they need a damn shower, if that makes sense.

What beer was it? There is a fine difference between an expensive and a cheap beer
2-4 bottles and you are nicely on the way.

Alright it seems like the beer I drank was shit after all :D.

You waited 20 years for your 1st beer? Half of that is wasted :P
Also, you probably picked some crappy commercial beer that tastes like piss :P i'd recommend you check some fine Belgian abbaye beers :) my personal favorite is the Abbaye de Bonne Esperance (6€ a bottle here in Italy, but it's worth every cent) :)
EDIT: this one http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/abbaye-de-bonne-esperance/6086/

Of course it's very important not to try shit beer for the first time, else you'll be generalizing all beer as being bad. BUT, no beer, not even the cheapest one served warm, should make you feel like puking. Maybe there's something wrong with you, like an allergy or something.

First beer I ever drank I was very young, did not like the taste that much either. Also, no I did not get even the slightest bit tipsy either. Keep in mind, the beer was Coors.. was my mothers fav brand for some reason. Probably due to it being cheap.
Now the first time I tried champagne was to celebrate the new years for 2000. For my 21st was the first time I tried scotch. ( was a good brand too, forgot its name though. )
Oh and I have tasted various brands of beer.. dislike it in general. Though oddly do not mind scotch. To note its extremely rare for me to drink and I have never gotten drunk even once. Now I did get slightly tipsy once, but that was about it. ( Rare as in I MIGHT drink some one day out of a year, 3 times tops. The time I got tipsy was in 2000.. I drank all but one glass worth of the bottle I mentioned above. )

I don't drink beer because I have to drink at least 4-5 to get a bit drunk, and I don't wanna look like a pregnant women in the mid 30. Most of the time I drink bourbon in small quantities (100-150ml); I also like to drink wine, but I don't like the next morning effect.

I didn't drank that one, but I wouldn't expect much from it. I'd recommend you'd try some premium european beer, if you have the opportunity, before you decide that's not your kind of drink.
I drink beer quite frequently, yet I don't like mass-prduction light lagers very much. With the exception of local crafted brands, the best beer I've had was Austrian Wieselburger Stammbrau. Polish, Austrian, Czech and German beers are good in general.

Hmmm.
All beers are not created equal, and in wine terms, I'd say that something like Coors, Miller or Budweiser (the US version) is the equivalent of a glass of Blue Nun.
While some people enjoy mass produced fizzy lagers, I'd urge you to try some more flavoursome brews, and steer clear of stuff that rolls off computer controlled production lines. Try a Belgian Tripel or an Imperial Stout (not to be confused with Guiness or some other such mass produced stuff). You may still hate beer, but at least you'll have tried the good stuff before writing it off!

I'm not the OP guys. It was a joke about water-beers.
I typically drink Pearl River Original myself... which has nothing to do wit the actual water in the, erm Pearl River.

I remember when I tried that famous Guiness. It made me stay clear of stouts for over a year, until I accidentaly tried stout from small craft brewery in my town. I loved it. Unfortunately, that was just one-time experimental batch. They have just two vats, and only from time to time brew something different from their regular beers (but those are very good too).

It's an acquired taste. I'm fairly sure most people feel the same after their first beer.
But once you get into it, it can be a really great venture. Tasting the multitude of different craft beers, being able to not only tell the differences between styles, but smell and taste the different flavors and layers to each beer.
I'm lucky enough to be near a mart that sells over 700 different types of beer (plus this region has tons of microbrews). I didn't get what the big deal was my first time either, but now I want to try them all.
Edit: And personally, I don't drink beer to get drunk anymore (would have to slam a pitcher for that anyways)... mainly for the taste now. Liquor to get drunk, beer to maintain.

They've gotten better recently. Sierra Nevada is delicious.

This is the best I've ever had: Westvleteren XII
Belgian trappist beer is just too good.

Trappist...mmm... I usually drink Corsendonk. Have to give Westvleteren a try sometime.

It's quite hard to get hold of, although some bars in Belgian cities re-sell bottles illegally. It was the nicest one I've ever had, but I've only had a dozen or so different types . The beer review sites all say it's almost perfect though.

and it was the ugliest thing I ever drank in my life (yes it was cold).
-Not even the slightest buzz effect after drinking half of the bottle, took me a few sips of wine to feel it.
-It tastes like ass, I wanted to puke.
I officially give this title to beer - the most overrated thing on the planet.
Wine and Champagne is much better IMO even though I think alcohol overall is overrated as hell.
BTW I'm 20 years old male.
