I think I will just send him a message saying his account was hacked. Good thing for steams safety call because I clicked it off habit and it was sent me to the whole (This is not a steam website) web page, and I was like whew*~.

A friend I havn't talked to in roughly a year on steam (played an mmo with but no longer so we don't chat). Sent me a very suspicious link with a very generic sentence "Hey you trade xxxxx.jpg yes?" and I was wandering if there was a safe way to check the link without opening it normally. I use chrome and don't want to get my steam account hijacked just because I have too much curiosity. I tread with caution do to the .jpg scam going around.
