What's the title of your "game"?
Don't forget to add appropriate soundtrack! :)

KING OF THE FOREST

King of the Forest is an innovative survival game where you must protect protagonist named Jon against Demons. Demons can't attack you when it's bright but whenever Jon is getting upset or angry the darkness slowly spreads over the world. Your job is to prevent darkness come. You can do it by doing things that makes Jon happy. It is called Hobbies and it's determinig the Mood (the better the Mood is, the brighter it is). For example you can go swimming, do improv, play computer games, read books, take different courses, find interesting job, race cars, make friends etc. But a few things can decrease the Mood. When you're very hungry or sleepy Hobbies can even don't work at all. There is also leveling-up system of Hobbies. You can learn new things in every kind of Hobby, you can also discover new Hobbies. It is important because when you're doing the same thing over and over again Jon becomes bored and it negatively affect his Mood again. So you have to constantly strive for improvement. When you don't care about Mood, darkness comes and you have to fight Demons. You can do it by talking to your friends, writing books, going on holidays and much more. But fighting with Demons is very difficult so open combat is rather senseless. The game focuses on keeping the Mood on a high level. You can also choose so-called Life Goals that will give you a huge bonus to the Mood if you achieve them. There's a whole range of Life Goals starting from finding a good job, through getting married ending up with becoming popular.

I will be famous game developer!
I'm gonna be the king of Denmark.
McDonald's.
I'll be doing stuff, you know...
I will still wonder why you didn't include a "potato" option in the poll.
Oh, come on... even you??

Good concept but overall could be better. Tutorial stage lasted way too long, yet there are still parts of the game I don't understand. The teen episodes were fun most of the time, but once you level up to adulthood things get pretty grindy.

No save or retry option, so getting a perfect game is near impossible. Main character seems to avoid NPCs even when not in stealth mode, could be a glitch. I don't know how to get the Insecurity levels of my main character down, and guides aren't much help. I think I enjoy the mini-games more than the main game.

Luckily, the relationship mechanics in the game are great. I've maxed out my affinity with my character's romantic interest without much issue. There are plenty of customization options for your character, although strangely you have to rely on other players to design your initial character appearance and voice.

Has a max level of over 100, but most people only get into the 70's and 80's.Leveling is slow, but I've heard if you get past level 60 your stats actually start to decline.

Not sure if there's a New game+ option. I've heard you can start a whole new game as a new character, but your old character must be deleted first. Could just be rumor.

7/10, Enjoyable, but there's too much focus on the money aspect of the game. The morality system might work better if I felt like choices mattered more.

  • Open world dynamics lead to occasional mayhem and, more often than not, complete confusion.
  • Controls are sloppy, often reaching into the oven with the wrong (non oven-mitted) hand.
  • Poor collision detection, which leads to accidents with things like cast iron coffee table legs.
  • Amazing heavy metal soundtrack.
  • Never getting out of Early Access because the dev has abandoned it for the sequel.

5/7 Perfect score. Wouldn't change a thing :)

Doesn't matter to me, I just want to support the game so it gets out of Early Access :/
Though also interested in the "Amazing heavy metal soundtrack", haven't heard of a lot of those ^^

I might just give up on it.

No way, bro. Believe me, I've been to the very shit-hole of life itself, and it does get better if that's what you want.
Stick it out a while longer and you'll see.

Change the things you can ... and to hell with the things you can't.

People say that, but i really can't afford a therapist to help me and at this point i'm pretty sure i can't work on my insecurities and anxiety on my own.

At least i've been going to the gym again, which is nice.

Well, this probably isn't the place to talk about it, but I can't sit idly by and not at least try.

Talk to family or close friends about it -- they know you better than anyone (sometimes better than we know ourselves), and they will be most sympathetic to your issues and most willing to help you. If that's not an option (and depending on where you live), there are numerous free services -- people you can call or visit -- who can help you cope with things. Pick up the phone, go see someone -- anything to get out of your own head for a little while. Sometimes you just need a different perspective to help see things in a different (and possibly healthier) light.

I don't want to drag it out or make a huge deal on the forums about your private life -- but the help is out there if you really want it. Going back to the gym is a great start in the right direction, since a stronger and healthier body makes it much easier to heal the mind and soul as well. Best wishes, man. You can do it if you want it badly enough. :)

Mine is called "Too Late, You Hobo!"
It's about somebody with great potential who gets into a great university but screws up because of his stubbornness and things from his past he couldn't deal with, so now he's just in his first year of a much worse college at the age of 27 and will never earn his masters degree.
True story.
