I was almost sure I'm going to buy classic xbox 360 controller. Then I heard about razer onza and razer sabertooth. Onza - meh, nothing special, i prefer xbox 360 more, but that sabertooth one is amazing. Too bad it's price 80$ while xbox 360 - 30$. Isn't it rip off, maybe someone who's used both could recommend me something?

Save yourself the trouble and don't buy Razer controllers. They have great design but absolutely horrible quality control. If it's not already broken when you get it, you can bet it will break soon after.

I'd recommend getting a 360 controller, since it's cheap and easy. If you want something a little more advanced then going with the PS4 Dualshock 4 or Xbox One Controller is good alternatives too.

PS4 controller. (with ds4tool) it can do everything wired/wireless xbox360 controller can
plus standard Bluetooth (no need for wireless receiver), standard micro USB port, internal rechargeable battery, touchpad, and a customizable lightbar
minus audio port doesn't work (yet), xbox keyboard/whatever controller accessories doesn't work

If you have a jailbroken iDevices, you can even use the controller to play MFi games too.

Xbox 360 controller obviously. Or an Xbox One, but for now only wired.

THe PS4 controller also very much PC compatible and even works with a lot of the games out of the box. Even Steam has a PS4 overlay. Not many people seem to know this, so I just thought I'd point it out. And it's one extremely comfortable controller.

For games that aren't straight up compatible, you can use the very simple and damn good tool, DS4 Tool. It even enables the touchpad, and you can use it like any laptop touchpad to move the cursor and click/right click/middle click.

Edit: And really, absolutely nothing beats the D-Pad of the DualShock controllers from Sony. The only advantage the 360 controller has right now is immediate compatibility with most games and the weird preference of the higher placed analog (I'm ok with either). Other than that, the PS4 controller does everything better.

Drivers (for xbox one) are beta, but they work fine!

Speedlink Xeox wired. Better than M$ 360 pad (also you can switch to Direct Imput mode so it works with any game), but 1.9m wire could be 30 - 50cm longer.

I have a Wired XB360 controller but if you would go out and buy one I would recommend the Xbox One controller

I use a wired 360 controller, when needed, and it plays very well, but it depends on the type of game. For FPS, it has to be the good old Keyboard and Mouse, especially as I have a Razer Deathadder mouse, (left handed version, the very first left-handed gaming mouse to be released).
For action games, like Sleeping Dogs, the 360 pad. Third person shooters? That's a little more tricky. It depends, (at least to me), on the way the camera reacts, some games, the camera is all over the place and is just almost befuddling in nature, for those, the pad, for ones with a stable, for the most part, camera, I use the K&M.
I've not really tried any other type of games recently, but those up there,^^^, are my thoughts on it

If you already have a console use a wired one for that, if you don't I suggest using logitech(even though those are ugly)

I heard and read everything bad about the Razer Sabertooth (yeah, really bad reviews and everything, a lot of persons who regret buying this gamepad, etc.) (while I almost bought it) instead I chose an Xbox 360 wireless and I'm pretty happy with it.

I've read lots of bad things about the Sabertooth, too. But given that I went to buy a controller only this week (on Monday), I decided to analyze stuff a bit more thoroughly.
Most of the badmouthing was due to supposed poor quality control in general, and the bitter aftertaste of the Onza.
Real gripes with the Sabertooth were rare, and Razer's support team seemed to offer assistance pretty much everywhere.

I was considering either Logitech or the Sabertooth, but apparently Logitech is moving out of the controller market, so if something died on me, it could happen no replacement would be possible. I love Logitech's support team as they always replace items that break down within warranty period (and their stuff also breaks; I've had several mice start double-clicking instead of normal left clicks, but each and every time I got a replacement, and sometimes an upgrade), but if they're abandoning a product line, I'm not very likely to purchase.

The Sabertooth is really, really good. I'd say it's worth the money, but I'm generally likely to shell out the cash for good peripherals so YMMV.

If the Sabertooth really were that bad, I don't think people would buy it. But the unsatisfied customers tend to be really loud. And for a good reason, too.

About the X360 wired vs. wireless:

Wireless is much more comfortable and I haven't encountered any compatibility problems. If you're worried about batteries - you can use the wired play & charge kit and even take the battery pack out when it's connected. Sure, it requires a receiver (therefore it's more expensive), but it's much better when you want to play on the tv.

Others here probably have more experience, but I recently bought a Logitech F310 Gamepad and it's been working fine for me. It's wired and being designed for PC use, I can plug it straight in to my computer. For most games I've tried, it just works, no special configuration necessary. However, it doesn't have a vibration feature. You can get vibration on a wireless model if you buy the F710 instead. I hope this is of some help.

Edit: The Logitech web site lists the F310 for $25 and the F710 for $50, but I think you can get them for less. I bought the F310 in Target on sale for about $20, and I've seen the F710 on Amazon for more like $30-$35, IIRC.

Xbox One. It is lighter than the Xbox 360, way more precise, and its force feedback is really impressive.

Xbox 360 controller or Dualshock 4.
Personally I have Dualshock 3 on PC and it's great, but you'll need the additional soft to run the gamepad on your PC everytime.
