Hi everyone,

I am wondering.

I have a gaming laptop, few years old but still pretty strong..
After updating to Win 10, weird things happen. I usually used the Balanced Mode and I could play lots of games with decent - high graphic.
(Skyrim, Dishonored, Sin of Solar Empire, Dota 2, Starcraft 2, etc with no problem).
Now whenever I start most game (decent graphic above), it would shuts down almost instantly. Sometimes just the setting / loading screen.

Recently I read somewhere by accident, someone solved similar problems by playing on Power Saving mode.
I tried and surprisingly it worked. Any of you know what is happening and why?
Know how to fix it?

Thanks fellas. No Gibaway for now but u sure can wonder the possibilities.

Well, I'm surprised. Moon Moon was winning the poll initially, then Wonderwall caught up..
Now Wonder Woman is leading =P

So many people "upgrade" to Win10 and then wonder why they have problems suddenly ...

  • Maybe it's a core management thingy?
  • Or your dedicated GPU got problems, switching to powersaving switched to the onboard GPU...
  • Maybe it's an overheating problem? Try checking with Speedfan

My guess would be bad driver -> over heating.
Is your laptop getting hot?

Nope.. works fine with power saving mode..

problems only when using balanced more.. and high performance too I think.

Sorry. I meant bad drivers that do well in power saving mode (reduced frequencies of CPU/GPU) but fail at heat management in balanced/high performance modes.

I have no problems with Win 10, try googling more, can't launch only really old games, but can be still fixed by compatibility modes.
CS:GO runs okay FPS>100, Bioshock FPS is decent too, Dota 2 is "Reborn" now so has too many things to fix, started to glitching after "upgrading" =d
I'm waiting forward for some new DirectX updates, that'll improve Win 10 users' gaming experience.
I'm using laptop too, you get better performance while on "High Energy Consumption" and "on charge", try updating drivers? Maybe there will be a new solution...

It could be driver related, but I don't know for sure about the specifics. I had to manually reinstall drivers on W10 when I upgraded, so there's that.

Maybe somewhat related - I had some problems with 10 since I updated from 7, which I thought created some driver compatibility issues...
so I backed up my stuff and did a complete reset (so it looks like the thing had win10 from purchase)
Running silky smooth now.
