As the title says, I've completed my fresher year in Steamgifts. I found this site while searching for a free games that I could enjoy in one of reddit thread. At that time I had only few games so I couldn't register to Steamgifts. I had to wait for almost 6-7 months to finally pass the $100 CV restriction.
I never would have known about Steam at all if it wasn't for my friend who played Dota. Prior to this all I did was torrent games from skidrowreloaded and piratebay. I joined Steam on Feb 14, 2015 guess I needed something to divert my mind from the fact that I didn't have a GF XD
Later being involved in the IT sector I kinda developed a thing for at least supporting the developers when ever you can. My first purchase for games were done during the Steam summer sales of 2016, for games that I had already played earlier by downloading pirated copies. The Talos Principle, Ori and the Blind Forest, Tomb Raider and GTA:San Andreas. Since then I haven't downloaded/played pirated copies of games.
At first I used to enter for all of my games from my wishlist on SG. Now I am choosy about it too. I mostly visit the wishlist section of GA on SG and rarely the recommended section for a game that I might like.

I like to share my stats on my first year on SG.

  • I now have 69 games in my steam library which includes 20 games that I won on SG, thanks to this community and members for gifting me game that I wanted to play or giving me a chance to win a game.
  • I have given out 56 games till now.
  • I have entered for 4,885 GAs till now.
  • I have commented 931 times, not much of a talker really.
  • I have 99 people on my blacklist 96 are for rulebreakers 1 is personal and 2 are BL return. Among 96 BL almost 60-70% are those who Re-gifted or tried to regift after winning games here on SG. If you are on my BL but haven't broken any rule ask me, I'll un-blacklist you if it has been mistake from my side, but if you did break the rule which I usually add in tags and user note, I won't reply your comment. If still not satisfied add me on steam, we can talk about it.
  • I have created 5 discussion threads. 1 for Bugs and suggestion, 1 for Sci-fi movie recommendation, 1 for advice regarding my career, 1 BDay Thread and 1 CakeDay thread this one.
  • I haven't created any train or used SGtools to protect the train till now, I guess this is a chance for me to try new things.
That sums up my activities in SG of the 1st year.

So now to GAs.

SGTools protected Train : Basic SG Rules and Level 2+

Whitelist/Group

I will temporarily add members to my white-list by looking at their stats on Do You Even Play, Bro? Script. Leave me a comment with your stat if you want to enter the whitelist GA. So rules are following:

  • For 5-10 wins, have >25% achievment more than 35%.
  • For 11-30 wins have >25% achievment more than 25%.
  • For 31-100 wins have >25% achievment more than 20%
  • For 101 and plus wins have >25% achievment more than 18%

This is my first time creating a SGTools protected train. I've tried to consider multiple wins that were before 2016/01/01 and allow it. Tell me if something goes wrong.

Games are as following:

Gz on the year, thanks for the games
and wow a lot of hours into your won games...sadly back then I only played a few of my wins...though they got plenty of hours (a little bit pissed that they added Achievements to Two Worlds II more than 3years after i finished the game^^).
Now after my long hiatus here + on steam I really play those won games..sadly a bunch of them weren't what they looked like from the trailer or just bad...and I still got a lot of catching up to do with the games won 3-4 years ago xD

Actually.. it was easier for me because I had less game to start with, no large backlogs so it saved me a lot of time. I usually tend to finish 1-2 games per month. When my backlog started growing I joined BLAEO which helped me to reduce it.
I think you should also try joining BLAEO.

I used to download pirated games during college... I purchased every game on steam that I had previously pirated. In the end I think pirating does drive additional sales... as you can turn someone who originally had zero interest in purchasing the game into someone who may purchase the game. I remember way back when the monthly pc gamer demo disc was the biggest deal ever... when you could actually try a game out before spending $50... oh the good ol days.

Yep, I also think so. I now sometime try the demo versions on steam or watch gameplay videos on youtube to see if the game if interesting or not.
I also used to buy PC-Gamer magazine mostly for the games and application it came with. I used to patiently wait every month for the magazine. It (indian edition) used to rarely come to my country, and rarely found on some stationary shops. yeah good old days, but it ended too soon for me because they stopped exporting back at 2009.
