Agreed. This is so dumb. Let's get caught up on every little word and make everything as watered down, generic and boring as possible. I assume the edited text will be: "She has a burned face".

Watch the Skill Up review and you would probably do that anyway :)

Agreed. He does some great reviews. Have generally stopped watching Laymen Gaming since he left. I like Sam but their videos were entertaining because of the banter between the two of them.

Eh, Skill Up seems to be all over the place. They tweeted that they hated AC Origins but were really enjoying Odyssey, the mini-review of Odyssey was that it was much better than Origins, but then the final review titled "Bigger isn't always better" seemed to imply that they didn't like Assassin's Creed: Odyssey either. I didn't actually watch the review, it's a ridiculous 48 minutes, and I don't have time for that, but that's what it seemed to imply.
I absolutely loved Odyssey, so I feel pretty confident that I'll love Valhalla too.

Not sure about the situation you brought up but he is usually pretty good about going back to earlier comments and discussing whether he made them prematurely, or why he has changed his mind. In the Valhalla review he even mentions the fact that in the earlier hours of gameplay he was messaging other people about how he was enjoying it and was optimistic about the rest of the game. Overall he didn't enjoy the game but towards the end I think he says that if you enjoyed Odyssey you will probably enjoy Valhalla. So you're all good :)

yeah, the subsequent tweet of the person who called them out on "ableist" word was even more weird, something like "I didn't know I was so powerful, I alone made a company change their game with just a tweet", paraphrasing. Sounded like when Kira realized what he could do with the death note :D
But yeah, the person really is nitpicking some other games, while it is kind of noble of them to analyze games from the accessibility standpoint, I really do not understand people who loudly fight for other "minorities" let's call them, without being asked to do such a thing.
Mindboggling, really

I mean, I loved Assassin's Creed. But when Desmond died I felt like the game had no direction after that. I stoped playing after Syndicate as the game style of switching characters really threw me. I honestly don't get this ableist stuff, I'm not as in-tune to that. It kinda sounds like when straight people get offended at gay jokes, but honestly idk lol.

In the real world, I hope people with disabilities don't feel shame. They shouldn't.
But does that mean that portraying a disabled fictional character in 837 AD as feeling shame is off-limits?
That seems like a REALLY slippery slope.
Someone replied to the tweet and said that the word "disfigured" is the problem because it's offensive... but then several people with burn marks and facial scars replied and said that word is not offensive.
I guess the bottom line for me is that conversations like this are important, and thinking about things differently than you did before is important, and it's important to understand other people's beliefs.
But also, video games (like any other art form) need to be able to portray things that are uncomfortable or distressing, without censorship.

well, well. you can clearly tell by the picture that she's disfigured herself. by poor taste in haircut and color.

Uh, whatever, usually plot and writing in ubisoft games is garbage.
Also vikings used to be friendly, kind and wholesome /s
Can't wait to see how they'll manage to be the good people of the game

Actually that's happening here too, in this thread. Just the other way around, but with just as salty tears.
I couldn't care less if they simulate a past, with ableist language, or prioritize the feelings of disabled gamers today. I enjoy the game either way.
