Anyone else on the East coast feeling the weather?

I'm riiiiight on the coast in Virginia. It's been raining for about 31 hours now and the wind is picking up.

I hope you folk in New York are ready!

Oh, so the hurricane isn't as bad as we were led to believe, then? I mean, if you're online and still have power... I'm going to assume it's not all that bad.

It's not hitting too hard here. New York will get hit harder. Even so, we've been hit enough that over the past couple of years they have been doing restructuring of power and utilities here to withstand the storms.

Well, I don't live in NYC, which is where I'm assuming it will hit hard.

It still hasn't hit the coast, so 17-18hours ago it sure didn't as well.
Now it's been raining for nearly 50hours straight there, I believe.

Such a shame the OP didn't realize it, hopefully he does now, but Virgina is where it's headed. New york is safer.

Really? I saw a different path. Virginia just got the edge of it from what I saw.
It's about done, now, from the looks of it.

Not sure where you're looking. I just looked at a couple sites and it's more into Jersey, Delaware, etc right now.

I was in Jamaica when it hit on Wednesday and it wasn't so bad then, just a category one. Now I'm back in NY and I'm wondering what will happen since now it's combining with two other fronts.

Nah the week had pretty good weather. Tuesday night it was just windy. Wednesday was pretty crazy but the hotel was hardened to withstand up to a category 4. By Thursday morning it was nice weather again and the storm was on it's way to Cuba. I flew home that day so no big deal.

I'm more concerned for here in NY. I'm not worried that my house will be damaged but I don't want to lose power because I'll be bored out of my mind.

My apartment building has a backup generator that fuels the hallways, so I can read if the power goes out :)

That's a great use for them :D

They're also good for fueling fires.

Problem is you need a lot of books if you're using them to create a fire, that will in turn provide light to... read books.

...I haven't felt anything yet but they've declared a state of emergency here in Massachusetts. I'm charging all my handhelds. This town loses power on clear, sunny days. I can't imagine we'll fare well in that respect. ._.

Here in Quebec we're supposed to get the tail end but I live so up north that I'll probably don't get anything more that a little bit of wind and rain or snow.

I live in central PA, right where it is projected to turn back around to the northeast

which reminds me I need to buy the bundles that are up before I lose power for a week or something heinous
