Tomb Raider or Max Payne 3?

If you want to watch lots of cutscenes with not so much gameplay, get Max Payne 3. If you want the opposite, get Tomb Raider.

Buy something else. I love MP1 and 2 but 3 scks. I love old TR 1,2,3,4 and Aniversary but new TR scks

All I can say is that I enjoyed Tomb Raider :)

if you like adventure games, wait until you can afford tomb raider collection. if you don't like adventure games, tomb raider.

When max payne 3 came out I thought it was great but there were way too many cutscenes. I was thinking to myself if I wanted to watch a movie I'd watch a movie and not play a game. If you have GTA V or will get it (if your system can handle it) wait for it.

Tomb Raider from 2013 is a fantastic reboot, I got it for my ex-gf last year for Christmas (use a xbox360+pc gamepad with a wired=usb cable). The only downside is there are a bits where it tells you struggle with enemies and it tells you press this button, then that button (quick time events). It's also not very long, it is just under normal length and when you complete it you are left thinking hmm ok what now? I finished it on another system when it was new..and now I am thinking to myself..ok since I finished it why should I get it..but it was really good. I have inner conflicts due to low budget+opportunity costs of getting any other game at a same price, but I'm only saying that coz I have played all of tomb raider, just get it at this price :p

TOM RANGER. $4 is a bargain for such a good game. You won't miss anything if you pass on the GOTY edition, it's just cosmetics and junk you won't even miss in game.

Tomb Raider, Max Payne 3 is not Max Payne, at least TR is a reboot.

MP3 is a decent cinematic action game, yet very linear. Even if you want that, I'd still recommend MP2 over MP3.
TR will leave you room for exploration and personalization. I found it very well crafted. It lacked in tomb-raiding and puzzles though.

Of the two I prefered Tomb Raider, hands down.

Tomb Rider is less fun to me because of its' mostly generic gameplay. Not a bad game but I prefer Max Payne 3 since it has better story and much more awesome shooting. Yes, there's a lot of cutscenes but each one covers level loading and you can skip it when it's ready.

However, if you like to hear a woman screaming in pain...

personally id go with tomb raider. it was genuinely surprisingly fun. max payne 3 had good combat, but thats all. very linear game and a deeply unsatisfying story and character development... the whole game is an ode to why successful and wealthy people deserve to be raped and or die painfully, and criminals are awesome and must be celebrated for killing white people (if that appeals then get max payne in a heartbeat)... and max is more of a whiny bitch than ever... its like that character growth at the end of the fucking BRILLIANT max payne 2 never happened... it was basically made by a developer that had no respect or understanding of the previous games, beyond the concept of 'lets make max whine and be as depressed as we can because thats all we understood from the previous games'

max was a damn decent pc port though. runs and looks great... but my vote, for tomb raider. its silly as hell, but it has better scope and ultimately is a better journey.

Max Payne all day, son! The game is awesome. And yes, I played 1 and 2.

tomb raider, max payne 3 is a flop. Tomb raider has some annoying QTE in the first part but gets better after that and is overall decent game, enjoyed it quite a lot. It's nothing like the old games though, more of action game than platformer. Max Payne 3 is pretty bad compared to the older ones, only good thing is decent shooting mechanics, short and theres the rockstar always online thing.

I have both games and I really enjoyed Tomb Raider more than Max Payne 3 :)

MP3.Its a fun game, just don't expect it to be like the previous entries

Both good games and worth to play. Both have nice graphics, run good with midrange PC, dont have much bugs, have mediocre MP, safe to buy only base game(DLCs are just MP stuff and skins, but atm in Steam MP3 Complete is cheaper than base game :AD ), campaign take same time(10h), if you like challenges like speedrun or hardcore then MP3 offers more.
Take what looks more interesting to you, next sale you can always buy another, or look other offers(GMG and so on).
I personally like TR more.

Max Raider 5 is my choice :)

I own and played both, definitely Tomb Raider. I felt that Max Payne 3 was lacking, somehow.

I enjoyed both, but MP3's story was more interesting to me. Plus, bullet time is just plain fun to mess around with in the game.

Tomb Raider is good, but gets a bit meh halfway through the game. Max Payne is enjoyable all the way through, plus the story is better IMO.

Thanks everyone for your comments, I'll think about it till the sale is up but I'm starting to have an idea of what I'll do.
