in other parts of world it's called advent. like calendar for waiting christmas where you open something every day like candy calendar doors or in this case giveaways

Normally, a Yule Calendar, or Advent Calendar, has 24 or 25 doors, one for each day of December leading up to (and sometimes including) Christmas day, seemingly randomly located all over the board (much like it is here). Behind each door is a special surprise (can be a picture, or candy, etc).
When I was young (30 or so years ago) I remember my grandmother getting me one that every door had a small chocolate from around the world, each door being a different country. That's literally the only Yule Calendar I remember, despite it being a yearly tradition for most of my childhood. You would open the door, and there would be a wrapped chocolate in a specially shaped compartment (so it didn't rattle around). Remove the chocolate, and there was a spot on the compartment designed to be grabbed and pulled. Removing the compartment would reveal the location the chocolate was from, in the form of a map of the world. The 25th was Belgium (and also the center of the map), which to this day is still the best chocolate I ever had (I'm from the USA, apparently we have crappy chocolate).
I sort of started rambling there for a moment, but I think you get the idea. This is the same concept: (once Ekaros gets it filled in) there are (will be) 24 giveaways, one starting (and possibly also finishing) each day, so you'll have to open the doors one day at a time leading up to Christmas.

Hershey's Special Dark is very good though (or at least it used to be so in the 80-ties; it's really hard to get it in Europe, but I don't think, that they've changed the recipe since) ;).
