Hello Everyone,

Sorry for a very Long Read but Please take your time to read them and then vote, please if you vote NO THEN COMMENTS on it explaining to me why or how. If you vote Yes you don't have to comments but if you want to then you can go for it. Also this is off Topic sections so i want everyone opinion on what you think of them and my case.

So here start of my case: I pre-ordered Dishonored 2 because i want to create giveaways with it on last month. So i got it from HRK Game, i was thinking i would have gotta keys for it but i didn't know i won't get the keys that early until Game is released so yeah silly me and then i asked them for refund.
Now however when i pre-ordered Dishonored 2 and i paid for it and i also got 4 free bonus games. However i have use those free bonus games already. So now on to my case here what happened. I going to Copy and Paste from my email.

---1st email from me:
I only want refund on Dishonored 2. I didn't realize that i get the keys for this game right away when i pre-order it and it was my 1st time pre-order new game in here.
Sorry my bad i thought if i buy pre-order game right now and will get the key for it on the spot. I didn't know i have to wait for it whenever it is available then you can use it.

-Their reply:
Thank you for contacting HRK Support.
Your game code already has been used , so we cannot refund your money.

---Now i was confused by what do they mean then here my 2nd email:
Thank you for replying but could you care to explain to me how come it been used when the game is not out yet and there is no code for in it to be used.
Also i just Screenshot it because it say unused?

-Their reply:
Thank you for contacting HRK Support.
You have used the free bonus games.
So we cannot provide you a refund.

---3rd email from me:
Thank you for replying, You can't provide me refund on just one game that i pay for it, I thought Free bonus games is separate because it was just a free bonus?
Yes i used the code for Free bonus games but not on pre-order paid Dishonored 2 game.
I never heard of this kind of refund. So i can't get refund on Dishonored 2 because i used code on free bonus games?
Isn't there is another option of refunding like you can just refund me 40 USD and keep 5.99 USD youself which is total price is 45.99 USD?

-Their reply:
Thank you for contacting HRK Support.
You have used the free bonus games.

---Okay everytime i send them an email and it is always from different stuff member of those HRK Game Supports and not the same person replying to me. It seem to me they didn't really try to understand to what i was saying and didn't even try to solve the case or even gave clear understanding answer to question or explain about how their refund policy work. The case hasn't been solved yet.

This happened last month cos i was going to create giveaways for it but since i didn't get refund and it delayed me to this month. Cos if i gotten refund and then i would have got the game from Steam and add as gift and give it to winner in here in last month. But however i am still going to make giveaways for it in here later in week by getting it from steam gift.

So what do you think? Any reason why they won't refund me cos i use free bonus games that came with paid pre-ordered game?

Yes - They should Refund you.
No - They are right and being fair.

That what i try to do in my 3rd email. I giving them a fair offer since not sure how much those bonus games cost but they should have able to do so.

I also think it would be sympathetic of them, if they would refund part of your purchase.
They don't necessarily have to do so though.

If that's their return policy, then it sucks and it's not a great policy but it's fair. You just made the mistake of not reading the return policy (which no one actually does so I don't blame you). It's the same as if you bought clothes and you took the tags off and the store wouldn't let you return them because that's their policy, but another store may be totally fine with you taking the tags off the clothes.

While what they are doing is questionable at best, I have a question: why in the name of all reason did you think that you will get a key for a game that is not even released yet, therefore no commercial keys have been generated for it—especially for a site that gets its stock from "the back of the trucks" and not from the publisher.

You ask very good question. I never knew that because i have never pre-ordererd any games with the keys to have those experience in knowing that. Mostly i have always buy new pre-order games is by Discs in store or online. Most of time when i got game from keys was already released game.

But what i was thinking at time when i buy new game key and i thought i will get the game key on spot but it won't be activated until game it out was thinking it is similar to pre-order game by the discs. Or like Pre-Purchase on some of the Steam games.

It's just a key. A bunch of letters. Contrary to some beliefs, Steam keys don't carry any secret codes, they are just matched against a database to tell what they are based on their sequence. :)
Pre-ordering outside the gaming platforms (Steam, Origin, UPlay, GOG, and the other direct retailers who distribute the actual game files) works always the same: you pay upfront, and when the game is released, the publisher sends out the keys, which are then distributed to the buyers. In return in many cases you get a somewhat better price than on the platforms. (If you are lucky, then the publisher really generated the keys upfront, so they are sent the moment of the official release. Somehow… I have trouble believing Bethesda is among them.)

Lets push it a step further and say it was a "buy one, get one for free" promotion in a store. You bring back the first item to the store the next day for a refund but leave the free one home, expecting to keep it for free. Are you seriously expecting them to refund you? If your answer is still yes, put yourself in the shop owner role and think again. :)

That is different example and it still confusing me lol.
Well I would have gave them free bonus game back if i could but it already too late to found out and it struck to my Steam account already. I didn't read their return policy i mean mostly people doesn't. I never knew about you can't get refund cos you use free bonus game.

My example is more extreme, but it's the same exact concept. If you don't return the whole thing, even the freebies, nobody will ever refund you. I would not if I were them, that's unfortunate for you. :/

It's not that different. If I buy a 4+1 free Snickers pack and eat the "free" one, I wouldn't expect the shop to give me a refund for the rest...

But to be honest they should able to work it out by subtract the price of free items and make it fairer.

What if the bonus items cost more than the original purchase, assuming their normal retail value? Would you expect them to charge you even more money to take back the game? I see you could potentially get 4 games each valued more than Dishonored 2 so that would be a very costly return, potentially owing nearly $200 more just to return it.

The bonus game i got didn't even cost more than $10 and better yet it cost around $6 all the together cos i check on steam.
But aleast they should try to talk instead of been just saying You have used the free bonus games. It is like they put no effort in trying to talk about it. It just seem lazy on their part without even explaining. I mean read their reply and you see what i mean.

Here are your own words "Oh damn i didn't read that or maybe i didn't see it or paying any attention to it. " in regards to reading the store page, did you bother reading the return policy? You say it seems lazy on their part, but what about on your part?

I will be honest, No i didn't read at 1st about it until their 2nd reply to my email. As you see here what i said in the 3rd email: "I never heard of this kind of refund. So i can't get refund on Dishonored 2 because i used code on free bonus games?
Isn't there is another option of refunding like you can just refund me 40 USD and keep 5.99 USD youself which is total price is 45.99 USD?"

I already read it up there at that time and i didn't see anything about it. And if you check their Return policy on their site now and you won't see anything about those thing. See that what i try to ask them and no answer.

When did you make the purchase and when did you ask for a refund? This line seems to apply to what you asked:
"Issue a refund for any reason, if the request is made within twenty-four hours of purchase, and the the title(s) on HRK is still unused and not redeemed. There are more details below:"
This also appears to apply as you purchased 1 game that came with 4 others all together:
"You can receive a full refund for any bundle purchased on HRK, so long as none of the items in the bundle are used."

At 1st i thought that was rule was about Bundles deal only I didn't know if free bonus game counted as bundle as well too or rules apply to that too. It wasn't clearly to understand, Maybe they should have worded it better maybe added thing about free bonus that rule applied to Bundles to make it easy to understand.

It was not clear, see that reason they should have explained to me either way. That why i said i find them lazy.
Now thing is i didn't buy game for bundles and just for one main game as i said i didn't know about it that you don't get code on spot. but they threw in 4 bonus games themself.
I asked if they can find way to work it out by subtracting from full Refund.

I understand what you are trying to say. But aleast they should have try to talk and find any other way to deals or subtract it make it like i paid for bonus game refund other game which is unused still. I mean they should find way to work it out. I won't even asking for full Refund if that was case.

Fairness? No, it's not a charity, it's business. If you buy a bundled product in a promo and you use part of the bundle, you are not eligible for refund. Simple as that. It's your responsibility to be informed about the product you are about to buy, and if you "consume" part of the product you should not expect a refund.
If you sold your video card, would you subtract the price of the free game it came with?

well i think you need read a little bit more >_<

Your pre-purchased Steam keys will be available on release date.
Release Date: Nov. 11. Only 90 days left until the release of Dishonored 2!

now they don't want do a refund i think it's for this .

by purchasing Dishonored 2 you will receive 4 hot random games for free. what is hot random game? is a random game that worth from $2.99 upto $59.99 on steam. hot random games are picked randomly by the system and the chance of winning triple A games are 10%.

maybe they are thinking that you want a triple A game and cause you don't get it you want a refund.

Edit 1: yeah we all know mistery game are near to always bad game =P

I've yet to see anyone on any internet board actually finding a AAA game, let alone something with a 60 dollar original price tag in a HRK random key drop. GMG drops a few once in a blue moon, but the jackpot on HRK usually means a bundle game that is not on this site's freebie list.

You buy a salad at a fast food restaurant which offer you a free drink orange juice.
You drink the orange juice. Then, you ask for a refund because you have not take the salad.
What should the waiter do?

Find a solution of cos trying to work out. Subtract full refund price and make it fairer or exchange.
In fact in my 3rd email i did try to ask them a fair price and didn't ask full refund. They should find a way to solve it like subtract it or exchange.

Sometimes, they have to pay some charges for a refund that you don't know.
http://kotaku.com/g2a-scammer-explains-how-he-profited-off-stolen-indie-g-1784540664
“When a chargeback occurs on purchase of a $40 game,” said Pickett, “we lose both the $40 from the canceled sale, and take a $30 penalty. So at a hundred fraudulent purchases, that’s $3,000 lost; $30,000 if there are 1000 keys stolen.”

I see what you trying to say. But still they didn't explained to me. And i have ask around and found about it in here you see.
They should have more put effort in trying to explain it to their customer if something they didn't understand but instead they end it in very short 2 sentence which will left customer wonders what do they mean. I mean check 1st reply to my 1st email and it confusing until i has send 2nd email to get what they saying. But they still didn't explained enough.

A refund is not the same as a chargeback, and it's, AFAIK, free of charge.

I think that's fair. Or else people would be abusing it to get free keys.

You giving them the 5-6$ does seem reasonable, but if that is not covered in their policy then no one is obligated

I haven't read all of the other comments, but TBH I think they are within reason not to refund D2. As far as they know, you could have intended to preorder, get those free games, then refund D2. I'm not saying that's what you intended by any means...but they can't distinguish an "honest mistake" from a deliberate manipulation.
And yes, what others have said about grey market sites, etc...from what I saw, you weren't aware. The good news is that you will still get D2 when it releases to do what you wish with! :)

I was not angry at all just surprised or maybe abit shocked cos i was not aware of it. So i tried have them explained to me or hopefully they can work it out with me.

Like you said good news that i will still get the game and i am fine with it. Cos i am planning per-purchase steam gift of D2 in a week.
