Looks like a Master of Orion 2 galaxy map with grayscale filter applied.

Games with blue crystals aren't exactly scarce :D
I'll go with Sacred 2.

I thought it was BFII after you posted the second image, but I just couldn't find levels with the matching details, then your final hint made it clear.

Afraid not. Had to look up El Shaddai and it looks amazing. This game's a different genre, and (for the most part) not that abstract, despite what the images I posted so far may hint at.

Afraid not. Think completely different genre, possibly more mainstream as well.
(I had to look up Xenosaga, what's with all the Nietzsche references? :D)

Interesting. I guess I would have to delve deeper into the games and their themes to understand how they would choose Nietzsche's work as a point of reference, but just skimming over the general plot on Wikipedia, I'm left with the impression that it was a more or less random choice to use his titles as they sound cool and Germanic ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I'm happy to be proven wrong, though.

Now we're getting somewhere. Closest guess yet, but not quite there.

Probably Wipeout (HD or Fusion or Pulse or Pure)? Cant say which one...

WipeOut HD it is, although I would have accepted the other answers too. The first screen caps are from the abstract zone mode. It was tough hinting at this one without giving it away outright. Tbh, I thought the iconic Feisar logo in the third image would be recognised instantly. But I guess there aren't as many WipeOut fans here as I thought :)
I seriously considered getting the PS3 for this game alone (and maybe Journey and a handful of others), and it pains me that the Sony Liverpool studio is no more and that we will never see a genuine current gen WipeOut on PC.

I played just a little only in Pulse, mixed up Feisar logo with Pioneer (lol), but i felt that i know something about this game.
I think that we would never see any WipeOut on PC anyway - Sony Liverpool was internal studio of Sony Computer Entertainment, and SCE didn't love PC. "All we can do for now is hope" - as said in Burnout 3, and like Burnout spiritual successor in the works at Three Fields for now, who knows what's gonna happend? Maybe TakeOut and AnnigiLout in near future?

Yeah, I know that Sony Liverpool was their in-house thing, and that the WipeOut games were strictly Sony console bound, but a man can dream... (or could, to be precise :D)

Ah, at least I'm not alone. I had also thought it's Organ, not Oregon, for a very long time :) But that's not it, added 2nd image.

arent there two games?
Organ Trail is on steam
Thought Oregon Trail was too but can't seem to find it

Haha it's all good, The Oregon Trail is the game that Organ Trail is based on. It's an educational game about American pioneers in the mid-1800's moving westward towards the coast. It was popular in the early-mid 1980's, so American kids who grew up around that time know all about it because it was actually a really fun and addicting game for its time (and my school allowed us to play it during school hours since it was marketed as educational!)

It's hard to make an image that's not easily recognized by search engines. Added 4th image and a hint.

The Consuming Shadow?
EDIT: Upon closer inspection, I guess not, but I'm leaving it up for now.

Oh man, I should have recalled this from the text quote of that crazy naked guy, the font used and text box looked so very Sierra-esque. I also totally forgot about the face composite thing -- that threw me off as I started thinking it was some sort horror point-and-click. I think it's time to revisit one of my childhood favorites!
