Huh. That's interesting. I tried uploading it directly (not using Google Chrome plug-in) while logged out, and I still get the same result. Same result with incognito mode too.

Chrome gives me the "footwear" result regardless of my logged in status, while I tried the same Google search with Edge, and that gave me the "animal" results. That is really strange.

I wouldn't want to think that it has something to do with the country or residence, because that would be verging into conspiracy theory. So my best guess would be that maybe it's screen resolution? My old-ass 17'' monitor doesn't go above 1280x1024.

Google does this all the time, though. But in this case, the resolution or logged in status had no effect for me (tested some samples between 1024 x 768 to native 4K - for science!), only the browser. Chrome results were always consistent, as were the Edge results - and different from another.

It looks like results of a search depend on whether you use a Chrome extension (even the official Google's one) or built-in function to do the search.

Interesting. I didn't have the extension installed, always used the built-in "Search Google for Image" from the right click context menu in Chrome. After checking again with the extension, I still get "footwear" (and not "animal"), but slightly different results under "visually similar images" and no hits for "Pages that include matching images". Curiouser and curiouser...
