If you're serious about photography and shoot RAW, you absolutely have to get this promo. I'm using DxO OpticsPro since v7 and have upgraded every couple of versions (using the current v11 now), and I can tell you that v9 for free is an amazingly good deal. This version introduced a noise-reduction feature called PRIME NR, which in my opinion is still unmatched by any other software till this day. They since improved the performance of this feature significantly, but since you can batch process it over the night performance is not something I would worry about. Did I mention it's free? When you need serious noise reduction, there's just nothing else out there that beats it. Just be ready for several minutes processing per-image when you enable this option. The software also comes with a more traditional (and still very effective) noise reduction option that's much quicker and more suitable for images that aren't exceptionally noisy.

Everything else about the quality of images this software delivers is first rate, so don't hesitate and grab this deal while it's available.

Note: This version supports most cameras released until mid-2014 (check this PDF to see if your camera is supported) . For newer cameras you need to either buy a newer version or wait for it to be featured on a similar promotion (which will probably take another year, looking at previous promotions by DxO).

Do you shoot RAW?

View Results
I don't. What is RAW?
I choose not to. I shoot JPEG only because... (please explain in a comment)
I do, in cameras that support it.
Dan Quayle tells me that RAW (as a format name) should not be capitalized, but I don't trust his spelling skills

doesn't hurt to have it i guess. thanks for the info.

while i am a little into photography i very often lack the time to go out and hunt down some good shots.
not that my cheap ass camera would know about raw in the first place...but you never know. it's always good to have options.

If your "cheap ass camera" happens to be a Canon P&S, you may be able to add RAW to it using third party firmware, but it won't be supported by this software.

Nice deal but I don't have a fancy camera so I'll just bump and walk away.

You can check this PDF to see if your camera is supported. Some of the cameras on the list I wouldn't call fancy ;-)

Does this software only process RAW pictures connected to camera, or can I denoise image from a file in my computer?

The software only works with RAW files. If your camera is on this list (PDF file), you just need to configure it to shoot RAW (or RAW+JPEG) and you'll be able to benefit from this software.

Thanks, Yirg. Getting it "just in case" as I don't have any good camera at the moment, so jpegs from smartphone camera are enough for now... Do I understand correctly that having the code is enough and I can activate it later?

There's nothing that mentions an expiration date for the activation key, but if you're not planning on changing computers in the near future you should probably activate just in case.

If anyone is curious to see the benefit of this software (and assuming you have a supported camera), just convert a RAW shot you took at ISO 6400 or higher and enable PRIME NR. Prepare to be amazed.

I have a plenty of 6400 and even 12800 ISO photos. I'm installing this software now, let's see the magic! :D

Don't forget to enable PRIME NR and go have some coffee while the software converts the files. With my old i5 750 it took DXO v9 more than 10 minutes to process one 24 MP file. With my newer i7 4770K (and DXO v11) it takes 50 seconds.

THIS... is pure madness...
This photo was taken at about ~23
Actually, the photo gets A LOT better AFTER saving/exporting (like ACR is what you see is what you get), but here... all the colors after export are natural and everything looks so damn good... I'm keeping this software! Thanks for showing me this! <3

Hey! I'm back.
The unsharp mask gives such a beautiful sharpening combined with Prime NR it's like WOW!!
Thanks again! :D

Yes, dialed in right it's a really great combination. Performance wise Prime NR is too slow for regular use, but it's a great tool to have in the toolkit for when noise is a serious issue. May I ask how long it take your PC to process each image?

Up to 3 minutes with Prime NR, About 10-15 seconds with High NR only
Photos resolution 6016x4000
I have AMD FX-8350

That's more than 3 times faster than the CPU I had when I was using v9, so pretty damn good.

I'm using Adobe Camera Raw for RAW editing. It's easy, fast and has fixes for extreme amount of lenses out there!

Where do I download the free version? ;-)

Also, you may want to check DxO anyway, because the difference with ACR when it comes to noise reduction is night and day.

I tend to shoot JPG because I don't have time to process the photos.
