I played both plus the ps4 controllers for PC. Highly recommend Xbox one.
It is good now but it would be exceptional once games implement the rumble on the trigger.

No problem so far. I did the same with the PS3 controller a long time back with no issue.
By the time the cable goes bad, we should have enough $$$ to get the wireless dongle :D

I switch one of my X1 controller regularly between my laptop and my X1. I've unplugged it/ plugged it back in multiple times daily since I'vegot it in June of 2014. The USB port is perfectly fine.
I would say spend the extra couple bucks and go with a One controller or get a 360 brand new. 360 controllers notorious for getting a drift in the joysticks and the rubber on the sticks peel much easier than the One's.

I can barely tell the difference between the two. My friend and I compared them for a couple hours of playing a couple weeks ago and after 10 minutes you forget which one you're using. That was our opinion anyway.

They are basically the same, only the feel and maybe the vibration feels slightly different (I have both gamepads). If you want wireless I would recommend going with xbox 360, however the back part with the batteries might be cumbersome while xbox one has it integrated and is less visible and won't annoy you so much (but getting a receiver for xbone gamepad is nearly impossible, for example they aren't selling it in my country yet).
360 is also cheaper but it's up to you. If you plan on using it for PC, it won't matter which one you buy, the games will show xbox inputs anyway which are the same on both gamepads.

What are your opinion on dpad on both controllers ?

The xbone has a somewhat better dpad, but occasionally it will still register as another input especially in fighting games.

Also the bumpers on the xbox one are weird, although it looks like a big button you can't press the inner parts, only the outer parts are registered as a button press. If you have big hands like me you might find it annoying.

I want to buy one too... I'm very tempted to buy the 360 one because the one it's the double of 360 price. If I buy two new one controllers, I can buy one new xbox 360 with two wired controllers. I didn't buy it yet because of priorities, but I'm pretty sure that 360 wired will be the choosen one. eventually, if I get more money, I'll try to buy the logitech.

The Xbox One controller is considerably better all round, the d-pad especially. The only advantage to the 360 controller is price (and more platform support if you get the wireless one).

Why not Dualshock 4 though? I've not really touched my Xbox One pad since I got one a DS4 a couple of months ago.

Fair enough. There's nothing wrong with the Xbox One controller, I just have a preference for the DS4 (mainly the d-pad being better placed for older and 'indie' games).

i have used both for stupid amounts of time, and after getting the XBone one i would never switch back.. the triggers and thumbsticks has a much better feel on the XBone controller, and honestly it's a little more "ergonomic" compared to the 360 despite them being so similar

theres no difference to the 360 one, i have a xbox one one and the build quality seems to be awfull, i hear many horror stories from the PS4 one too, meanwhile my 360 controller is still good as new.

I used a wired 360 controller for about 6 months before I bought an Xbox One and used it wired on my computer but now have the wireless dongle.

The 360 controller was good and never had any software problems at all, but I did have to buy a new one at one point due to the left stick not working. I found the Xbox One controller a lot less comfortable when I first started using it but now feel a lot better using it and its definitely the superior of the two, although when I used it wired it did lose connection at the slightest movement but not sure if that was due to a faulty controller or not. But now I have the wireless dongle I have no regrets at all.

So I'd say if you have the money, go for the One controller with the dongle, if not go for 360.

I own both the Xbox 360 and the Xbox one controller. The Xbox controller can cause problems in older game I've found, and it's always the same issue.
Some games recognize the Xbox one controller as permanently having the left analog stick held to the right making it impossible to play. (I'm not the only one with this issue)
My advice would be to stick with the 360 for compatibility.
Saying that, I prefer the Xbox one controller and use it in all game where it works, which is most. It is more comfortable and feels more sturdy, it's also a better weight in my opinion.
