Sorry for bump but it appears Rockstar still got no plans to work on PC version, guess not until the game is released.

“Hey Rockstar, I'm curious whether you are planning on releasing GTA V on the PC...” – received via Mouthoff
“You've probably been asked before, but is GTA V coming for next gen consoles also?” – @tomtoon2010

The only versions of the game that we have announced are for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation®3 which are set for a September 17th worldwide release. We don’t have anything to share about the possibility of a next-gen or a PC platform release at this time and we are completely focused on delivering the best possible experience for the consoles people have right now.

I predict it won't be released. And if the do, it will be a POS port, which I'll criticize ...but will buy at the end, like GTA4 :-/

EDIT: Holy shit, this is a 3month old thread.

GTA games are awesome on the PC. I cannot imagine playing it on a console.

GTA IV is one of the worst, shittiest ports I ever played. Max Payne 3 ran smooth as butter though, hope that is the case with GTA V.

releasing PC games is open to hacks and illegal access, which could affect the console sales since if GTA V was on PC same time as consoles, the true potential of console market and expectations would honestly fall apart. That said there will surely be a gta V version for PC around 3 months later, maybe around February time at latest, It just has to be there,

Because console games never get hacked. Your information never gets stolen.

Rockstar lost all my respect for not bringing Red Dead Redemption to PC and for the bad portation of GTA4
They should burn in hell.

There's a new Q&A on the R* newswire. They have announced a gameplay video to come out before the game hits the shelves, and also additional information on the multiplayer later this summer.

Since they decided to give so much attention to multiplayer (Which they call GTA Online), one can only think they are planning to add something amazingly new to the online component. I think they will try to make something like an MMO, something new and exciting, so this is a good reason to get hyped even more.

As for the PC version, CVG came up with a great explanation why it is still unannounced. Since GTA V was planned to be released earlier this year, and it's still being released before the new consoles, if they actually said that it's coming to new consoles and PC, most people would just decide to wait for the new consoles instead, and that would kill the first weeks of sales. After that, they'll surely announce the next gen version, because the next gen consoles are a great opportunity to re-sell the same game and make even more cash. And as for the PC, if they port it to XBone, they pretty much got themselves the PC version of the thing, since all the XBone games demoed at E3 were actually running on a nice and powerful gaming pc with Windows 7. The most probable option is that we'll get the PC version of the game around march or april next year.

Dunno what kind of PC specs would the game need, but if you are planning an upgrade, do it somewhere around Q1 or Q2 of next year when we'll know if you should imitate the consoles with your hardware choice and how powerful hardware you actually need. If you have a decent computer and can wait even more, do so. After a year or so, the prices of the console - similar hardware will drop significantly.
