mini display port

I have a 23" pc monitor and i want information for mini display port{you know these small ports at graphic card}.Some thinks which can help me is what max resolution i will have if i put mini display port at my 23" monitor.Also i will have audio too or only video.Some differences between hdmi and mini display port can help too{dont tell me about cable prices}.If you have some others thinks that you think are needed to write go for them.
