why are all these all-time high discounts coming after the winter sale?

Damn, I'd buy it but I'm boycotting publishers who bumped their prices after valve's botched "recommended prices" change in October 2022 (as a result of which I'd have to pay 15% more than USAnians and 8% more than EUnians). Oh well. It'll probably land in a bundle very soon, as the others wrote.

The game used to cost 71.99 PLN, which was valve's default recommendation for $19.99 games.
In October 2022, when the dollar was at an all-time-high, valve updated their pricing recommendations (pressured by some publishers, no doubt) and promised to re-evaluate them every year. PLN recommendations were changed from 71.99 to 91.99. There are several problems with this.
In effect, certain demographics are driven away from steam due to 1. some devs being greedy, 2. some devs being unaware that valve are lazy nihilists. I'm mad at devs #1 and at valve, so I'm boycotting all the games that use the new prices and either buy them in places that use the old pricing (or allow buying in usd/eur), or not buying at all.

It's not good that Valve didn't re-evaluate their prices again, it should be done on regular intervals for all other currencies. I remember when EUR was really strong against the dollar (1.2-1.4x) and when the prices in store for many games were the same as in dollars, that really sucked. It got changed and for a while recommended price for a $20 game were 16.79€, then dollar got stronger so the price in Europe was finally cheaper. But the last change happened when dollar was the strongest in a while, so recommended changed to 19.50€. From that time EUR got stronger 15% but the prices are still the same.
But we can look that from other angle too. If PLN price stayed the same you would be paying much less than most of the Europe, and that difference is larger than you are paying now (albeit in other direction).
Changes in Turkey and Argentina had to change because of their volatile currency, it gets exponentially worse every year and prices were ridiculously low. Paying dollar or below that for a $20 title wasn't fair either. Are the prices affordable now is whole another debate that I won't get into since I have no knowledge of their economic situation. Argentina have it far worse since they pay exorbitant taxes on digital purchases (155% last time I checked), but to be fair Steam can't take that into account when recommending prices for that region. I can also complain since my region doesn't get any regional pricing, but it is what it is...

So you can see that the problem affects the whole Europe pretty much. And Valve is in no hurry to keep their own promise.

Yes, god forbid I'd pay slightly less than Western Europeans who have 2-4x more purchasing power. Before regional pricing for PL, we were paying in euro, so it was the same as the rest of the EU. Introducing regional pricing was nice because it made the games ~10% cheaper so I bought more on Steam and less in other stores (HB shop for example). But with the new "recommendations" it's the other way round (for new games and devs who bumped prices of their old games). It's frustrating to me but ultimately it's their loss. I have enough games already, anyway.

Turkey and Argentina got screwed, but it should be noted in their case it was less "fuck these guys specifically" from the developers as they were simply rolled into the new region-wide cagtegories that were created. The two bad parts are:

Around $1 in my region; I already have it, but yes, it's great.

I almost fell into the same trap in November! I'm glad I was patient :)
Agreed about not buying games in batches, especially on Steam. Sales almost always repeat, so there's no reason to FOMO. I try to only buy games when I think I can play them soon. Doesn't always work out that way, but that's the goal.

I've seen a Let's Play of this one, way back when. And for less than 2 bucks it's gonna be quite a steal.

It's a fun game, that has never been bundled, somewhat short, but still an enjoyable experience, i've played it on PS and bought it now on steam.

I feel like I am obligated to buy it for this price
