Remember kids : Valve has a history of taking the rule of "use no third party programs" seriously.
Also, winners don't do drugs.
At least, seriously enough to spike you with a less-than-serious punishment for circumventing their systems. People who used achievement unlockers or idler third-party prods had their inventories wiped (back when they held only a few of the first TF2 items). While it's highly doubtful they would do anything seriously nasty to your account for simply rebinding your scrollwheel to a left-click to speed up your game, automating the process with scripts to the point that you launch a game up into the millions without even being present? Yeah, you're likely to get stung by some kind of punishment for that.
Just a friendly reminder. They have a sense of humour regarding these things, but given it ties into the sales, just be careful. I'm certain it is totally harmless to be in the same game as such a person, but if they're tracking individual stats then... well... just be careful, okay?
