How often are you checking? If you only check once a day, you're only seeing 1/24 of the potential flash GAs, so you're potentially missing over 95% of them! If you check a little more than hourly you'll catch them all. :-)

Maybe because math? If you start with a more-or-less even balance between short and long giveaways (or even something like a bell-curve distribution), any given set of giveaways started within a certain time period will have the shortest giveaways end first (obviously), which means that only the longer giveaways from that batch are left hanging around in the "active" pool. Over time, the pool of giveaways that are currently active at any moment will be skewed towards longer giveaways, even if there were just as many short giveaways started as long ones.
What I can see on the stats page is that the proportion of "bundled giveaways" has increased over time, mostly leveling off around January 2015. Part of this is that over time more games out of all available games will have been at some point been in at least one bundle - but also, games which are sold as part of a bundle tend to be "lower-demand" games, bundled by the publisher to try to boost the number of sales at the expense of raw profit-per-sale. "Lower-demand" games might be likely to have fewer people spending their points on entries - so bundled games are more likely to be given longer giveaway deadlines, just to get a reasonable quantity of entries, therefore as more previously-bundled games are given away, the average giveaway time will increase.
