How is it being better for your lungs than tobacco going to save my life?

First source I read.
However, none of these studies demonstrated that marijuana -- or any of its components -- could lower IOP as effectively as drugs already on the market. In addition, some potentially serious side effects were noted, including an increased heart rate and a decrease in blood pressure in studies using smoked marijuana.
Second.
Conclusion Occasional and low cumulative marijuana use was not associated with adverse effects on pulmonary function. I would like to remark three words. Ocassional and low cumulative.
Third source
But the psychoactive side effects of marijuana make its use impractical in the treatment of epilepsy," said DeLorenzo, who was the lead author on the article. "If we can understand how marijuana works to end seizures, we may be able to develop novel drugs that might do a better job of treating epileptic seizures."
Couldn't find anything but an abstract on the fourth. If you have access to the complete article please link it.
Fifth source
Part of the reason marijuana works to relieve pain and quell nausea is that, in some people, it reduces anxiety, improves mood, and acts as a sedative. But so far the few studies evaluating the use of marijuana as a treatment for psychiatric disorders are inconclusive, partly because this drug may have contradictory effects in the brain depending on the dose of the drug and inborn genetic vulnerability.
Much more is known about the psychiatric risks of marijuana (whether used for recreational or medical purposes) than its benefits.
Sixth.
We note that while THC provides an interesting Alzheimer's disease drug lead, it is a psychoactive compound with strong affinity for endogenous cannabinoid receptor
Seventh
Smoked cannabis was superior to placebo in symptom and pain reduction in participants with treatment-resistant spasticity. Future studies should examine whether different doses can result in similar beneficial effects with less cognitive impact.
But the lead investigator acknowledges the following
"Blinding" people as to whether they are on marijuana or a placebo is tough since the drug creates a "high" feeling.
In this study, 17 of 30 patients were able to correctly guess whether they were using marijuana or a placebo at each of their six visits with the researchers. And the rest often guessed correctly.
"It's pretty clear that the patients were not really blinded," LaRocca said. "What effects that might have had on the results is unclear."
That means that the study cannot be considered as conclusive. They have to be double-blind so that there's no placebo effect involved.
Read that and exercise critical thinking, please. I'm not saying that there's no possible uses to marijuana, but you have to read articles as a whole, not the part that interests you. Also I would like to remark that smoking is not the most effective way of administrating any kind of drug either.

Seriously. Nobody who disagrees with you is going to be swayed by this. Everybody who agrees with you already is just nodding their heads going "Well, obviously."

would you stop... just seriously, gtfo. nobody cares, these smoking threads have gotten out of hand.
you are just making it worse, we dont wanna hear about your reasoning for doing weed IN FACT the more you bring up that you do it the more i dont like you. I have no problem with marijuana at all like ive said, its the people that use it and talk about it ALL THE TIME that bother me, and you seem like one of those people.
Shut up,
please

No matter how you color it, the negative far outweighs the 'good'. I'm sure this has been done to death in the other several threads so I'm not going to bother checking for replies. You're all just trolling each other at this point and could really use to take this elsewhere.

They have a no-THC marijuana that reduces swelling and helps cancer patients, therefore getting high is not necessary to treat many of those conditions. Also saying that it can be used as a treatment does not justify using it recreationally, because you are treating nothing. Also they are using E to treat people with PTSD, does that mean you should self medicate with E or use it preventively?
The first thread about weed was a fairly good, even, polite and well thought out discussion, but now I see some "I hate weed" and "smoke weed everyday" threads, and frankly they are already getting tiresome.

Comparing marijuana to MDMA is asinine... They're on totally different levels, one can potentially kill you if misused and the other will just make you hungry... >_>
