This event was such a scam mostly people claiming multiple keys so i would say its advertising only but helps very few people

I don't get why you're referring to this event as a scam. It's not the event that's the scam, it's the people who are getting multiple keys by shady tactics that are scamming the event.
I keep seeing the word scam being thrown around all the time on the net and most of the time it just doesn't make any sense.

Not really a scam though... more like incompetence or (my guess) indifference from Alienware.
They have no reason to care whether their keys go to resellers or actual gamers.
They (potentially) get a commission for hosting this and they get site traffic; wheather it's genuine or bot traffic probably doesn't matter to them since Alienware as a community was basically DOA.
And I doubt it can hurt their sales since it's not the target audience for their overpriced hardware anyway.

I could be wrong here, but I believe spigias was being sarcastic.

Yeah... I'm pretty sure you're right 😅
That comment actually started out as an reply to you (with an addition line why people might call it a scam)... then I found it rude of myself to answer questions not intended for me... and when more people started to chime in I decided to type it anyway.

This is the way.
I was so pissed they didn't explore that sidestory further...
I was amazed to find out THIS is actually not the usual mandalorian way but that Mando was raised by "religious" extremists 😄

True the community in Alienware is dead long time now. Tried a year ago to make 2 new topics to try kickstart the forum and both of them auto tagged as scam by the system i have contacted support for the issue they didnt know why this happened and they didnt care anyway.

Yeah... that's what happens when you try to force creating a community via incentives.
When there's no incentives people might create a community... or they might not - but when you try to artificially force this process via incentives Alienware Arena is what comes out.

Definition of scam
: a fraudulent or deceptive act or operation
He is technically correct in that Alienware Arena promised keys without mentioning that the supply was limited or doing anything to prevent bots or multi-accounts gathering them up quite quickly. Hence they deceived people that they would get a key if they logged in on the correct day for the sake of publicity while in fact the majority of people missed out. Therefor the event could be seen as a scam, though I assume the original person was speaking hyperbolically.

"Alienware Arena promised keys without mentioning that the supply was limited" - In their defense, the announcement page does warn users that AWA uses UTC time to determine the start of a day, that users often have issues getting a key because of time zone differences, and that users may want to "budget their time" if they want a specific key. To me, that strongly implies "login at 0:00 UTC if you want one of the limited number of keys". Not to mention that I'm pretty sure anyone who has used AWA in the last 5 years knows that they almost never have unlimited keys for giveaways.
However, AWA does do a horrible job with ensuring fair access and has become a home for a lot of multi-accounts and bots. I've long advocated that AWA switch key giveaways to a lottery format so that people in all time zones have access before the multis and bots take them all.

Implying and stating are not the same thing however. They could have easily stated keys were in limited supply, instead of being opaque and giving vague hints, which seems pretty deceptive.
They could fix it in so many ways, giving away a limited amount of keys every hour would have worked better. Anyone with half a brain cell could have done better, the only conclusion is that they don't care.

Had no clues that, there will be a limited amount of keys for login giveaways. In that scene, it's a scam. It's not an actual scam scam. Just a solid example of incompetent people trying to run a gaming community when they have not a single clue about the aspect of that community.
You are a long-time user and didn't get your keys?, not Scamwere arena's problem.
The site is infested by bots? not Scamwere arena's problem.
For some reason, it seems like people from Alienwere arena are also in it. Taking free keys from devs and selling'em on the market.
