Do you like metal music?
Of course, been a metal drummer since I was old enough to walk and hold sticks.

I like metal. I like music. I like some music with metals.
But not metal music itself.
Altough i like some music that is metal, like twisted sisters and some other songs somewhere in my library, but even then i don't like the band, just some songs. Im eclectic, theres probably at least 1 song of every genre i like (even some weird sounding ethnic folk songs), but thats far from liking the genre.
im more into ambient, downtempo, nu and acid jazz, mpb, bossa nova and eletronica.
Rock i love some classics but above all Pink Floyd, Genesis and scissor sisters - hardly metal.
Altough maybe theres more for me to discover and like, because i also freaking love Rammnstein.
Like, every song, all albuns. I have no idea what they're saying but its the only band that makes me headbang imediatly.
So if theres any other metal bands that sound like that- TELL ME PLEASE

Rammstein don't say much.
Mostly slightly homoerotic texts with submission and dominance included (so BDSM in general).
I don't know why all outside of germany like them so much.
They make good fire shows and sell themself not bad but they are, from my point of view, far from the thing that other people from different nations see in them.
But in the end not important... as long as the music brings fun :o)

I suspected as much. I once saw mentions to thei lyrics, and they're not of my taste
Idk about other people but at least for me it all comes to language- its because i don't know what they're singing about i have no personal opnions, tastes or even judgments about the quality of the lyrics, both subject and technical quality. All that is left is the sound wich i find highly engaging. Maybe theres some chance i would like some of the lyrics (im actually into bdsm) but i highly doubt it, as for me bdsm has no relation to punk or edgyness or the rage they imply in their tone. Heck if i were a musician inspired by it it would probably be slow songs for a start.
I also enjoy some bands with terrible lyrics in languages i know (my own, portuguese and in english), but i notice that happening way more in other languages. I recall some catchy old song that was once popular here that i liked hearing but coulding help facepalming through it because of the really stupid lyrics- theres no level of abstraction or neutrality that can avoid our judgments when we know the meaning

I am into BDSM too but mostly don't like their lyrics because they are made as a 8 year old boy used words.
All stuff like "you have me", "Bend down!".
Not enough from my point of view for good lyrics but tastes are different and they are very liked in germany too.
The sound itself i like mostly, so i can understand that people that can't understand what they sing are more "involved" as german speaking ones :o)
You should maybe like "Sonata Arctica". Their "Shy" song in the lyrics version is great and i like the singers accent when he sing english.
Did you know "Van Canto" ? They use only a drum and their voices to make the sound (the guitar made with the voice is cool too). A german metal group. Nowadays it give more groups like that one but they are the source of this A-capella Metal. They make a lot of covers (from GraveDigger, Nightwish, Iron Maiden and and and) If you don't know them....
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UPUNdwRhuMA (GraveDigger cover, one of the singers in that video is the original one from GraveDigger -they cooperate with a lot of other metal groups-)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vyHcIHssdHA (Iron Maiden - Fear of the Dark cover)
They don't have high budgets... so the videos are mostly a bit cheap, as by a lot of metal groups :o)

Yes i heard Sonata. Some years back i sometimes hang with a cousin who was very into then- but i can't even recall most.
Interesting- i digged Van Canto... i probably heard then before, the name doesn't sound unfamiliar and i might have heard then with some of my old metal head pals. The funny thing is it didn't spark my interest back then but now im liking the sound much more... makes me wonder if age or the years is changing my tastes. Or perhaps its the freshness. Coming to think of it back then i was discovering lots of new bands and genres i was digging into, wich i listened to death over all those years to the point they're not fresh anymore. Maybe thats it? Idk really. Ive been finding myself hearing to some rock classics much more nowadays that i didn't gave much attention in the past as well...
Now i wonder if im just more warmed up to it. Its been a few years since ive discovered Corvus Corax, wich also led me to wardruna; i can't get my head around the hundreds of sub-genres and their formal classification but ive seen then being called medieval metal. They mix a lot more folk (really old at that), bag pipes, leather drums and flutes then metal but theres some similar rock roots and vocals- maybe thats where i aquired a new taste?
Thanks a lot for the tips, i feel i will go down a new rabbit hole in spotify youtube now :)

As someone who also loves Rammstein, I don't know if my other favorite bands would work for you (no one else sounds exactly like Rammstein), but here's some other bands I really enjoy: Rage Against the Machine, Metallica, Linkin Park, Flyleaf, Billy Talent, Evanescence, Nothing More.

I like some of Metallicas song, but isn't something i seeked to listen. I always enjoyed when friends put then on a playlist but never digged deeper. I don't like Linkin or Evanescence, the other ones i don't know.
Dammit i really wanted some other bands that sounded like Rammstein. What is their classification btw? Metal, industrial, something like that? I don't understand how this happen to me- some bands get me despite my lack of interest in their genre. But Rammstein might be the most special case for me because i swear, i can't hear then without 'head banging' so to speak and im yet to find another similar band that does that. Some of Corvus Corax songs get me in the same way, but i wouldn't compare then at all.

Rammstein is metal with some techno and EDM influences. In Germany it's called Neue Deutsche Harte (New German Hardness) or NDH.
Other similar bands include Unheilig, Hanze und Gretyl, L'ame Immortelle. There are other NDH bands, but the others that I've heard of feature growling and screaming for vocals, which I'm guessing you're not interested in.

I do like metal, especially power/symphonic, but certainly not death metal. That shit wrecks my head.

I don't think I am missing anything by not listening to a type of music that I dislike. ;)

I don't mind some metal, but I am not a fan of Death Metal. I prefer actual singing rather than someone just screaming gutterally. A shame, because some of the songs would sound good otherwise.

I totally agree. I actually love metal music, but I can't stand growling and screaming - it instantly ruins my enjoyment of a song. I've heard some new music by current bands that starts out sounding really good, and then the singer starts growling and I nope right out of there.
The times I think screaming can work well is when it's done with extreme moderation, such as in this song: Flyleaf - I'm So Sick. I love this song.

I am not as big metal fan as I used to be, but still can appreciate the music and I still listen to some of the bands, for example Tool, A Perfect Circle, Rishloo and a lot of not that much known bands, mainly from Poland, for example Rootwater (yup, that is my nickname here xD You see what I did here xD), Black River, Blindead (except last album - to my mind it's weak) and so on. But I used to listen to bands like Death, Immortal, Kreator, Annihilation, of course The Big 4 of American thrash metal, but right now I prefer something like rock, jazz and other genres.
Here is the sample of what I listen to nowadays:
