actually its the exact same price (1 x GTX 680 is $500) and its a little bit less powerful than 2 actual 680 in SLI but the 690 is quieter, takes less space and is more power efficient compared to those so both choices can be good depending on what you want most.

Um, you misread....from the article
"In fact, the GeForce GTX 690’s performance is almost identical to a pair of GeForce GTX 680s in SLI, but with significantly reduced power and noise. "

Why five generators? It's much more power efficient than you think.
But yes, I would take one in a heartbeat. :) Selling my current card would pay for the slight upgrade in PSU needed to run it.

300W TDP is very low for 2-gpu card. Its less than gtx 590 and 580.

Huh? It is official spec from Nvidia, and every reference card would have the same specification. TDP at work might be probably ~5% higher at full load though.

I know I cant run everything on Max with my 560 Ti. (Also have 8GB RAM & A i5 2500K here). Maybe you dont notice the bad FPS, Kinda like my brother, Who runs a game on Ultra at 20FPS but doesnt notice how slow it is. I do notice a drop from 60 to 40FPS so yeahh... Maybe its that

actually i do notice fps...
yeah.. 99% of the time it runs nice and smooth.. but some times.. and for a few secs there is a fps decrease.
The single game i coudln't run smoothly was skyrim (inside the caves there is too many particles effects... so... yeah.. it sucked there)
Perhaps i just haven't tried the right games yet...

Think of it like an investment. You're getting in on the early adopter phase. That's why its expensive, a few years down the road it will be cheaper but you can pay more to have it now. This pretty much guarentees that you're be able to play every new game for the next 10 years or more..

No point getting this, 2x 680 in SLI will perform better.

The usefulness of only using one PCI-E slot? So you can quad SLI two 690s down the road? ^_^

If you can afford that card, you afford a 4 way SLI board for sure.
Even then, I keep reading that 3x 680's will do better or close to what 2x 690's will do.

I heard it's going to be ~$250. The 670 is $400 to combat the 7950, will probably beat it, so if the 660ti competes with the 7870 for $100 less, I'ma be all over that.
