Well, it's my birthday on Saturday, and I'm not asking for anything.(Although I wouldn't deny a gift c:) WHOA PLOT TWIST! But this leads me to ask a question: If you have an internet friend that you're buddies with, and it's their birthday/holiday, do you buy them Steam games? If not a game, then what?

( If any of you guys saw the earlier title, I changed it because I realized people might think I was begging for games )

Only if I've known them for a long time. Tbh, I don't really play with many people that I only know over the internet... but yes, I have gifted one or two of them Steam games, not necessarily on their birthday.

I'd say a game from their wishlist on steam or a game they want ( could be non-steam)

Why should he get a "shitstorm" of friend requests? Only if they're "stupid" to beg that way...

Not for a birthday or anything particular. If I see a game I like on special and I want a friend to play it I'll send it to them randomly. I did that recently with Death Rally and Ignite. I spammed those to RL friends so we can play it at LAN games. :D

there are quite a few friends i would buy games for. nothing too expensive, but maybe if they have a $5-10 game on their wishlist, ill get them that.
one or two friends I would buy something decent for them. I bought Skyrim for a friend who had lost his job a week earlier and had something like 1000 hours racked up in Oblivion because I knew that he was gonna try to buy it and put his finances in risk regardless.

Ive met alot of Internet Friends, became good friends with quite a few of them and I treat them like all my friends :)

I havent been really getting them anything, but this topic made me think about it and I'll probably start getting them some small gifts :)

Same as they treat me. I ignore them. Although I do not believe in internet friendships. It's just scary, I've met so many people who are willing to lie in your face...

I don't do it cause I'm too poor. And I don't see a reason

Already bought a few games to my "internet" friends and clanmates as well, just because i like them and they know how to retribute the same way (even if i don't ask for nothing). Basically created a little second family based on those friends which is great and you now after those years playing with them i know that they're reliable, trustable and good friends after all.

A boring story, i know.

Online friends never were worth any investment (emotional/time-wise/money-wise) for me, so I chose not to bother anymore. For my real friends IRL, I'd do anything they ask or need.

I received the Kingdoms of Amalur collection from a friend on here on my birthday. I give out games all the time to random people though, just not on SG anymore. Also if I end up with a spare copy of something in a trade, and someone I know has that on their wishlist, they usually end up with it.
