Since Crazy Machines is now bundled, I'm now back to slightly before I've reached my 2000 milestone. To celebrate this joyous occasion, I've decided to run another event giveaway for Tomb Raider (2013)! See as how the last giveaway turned out with half the entrants being people who refuse to follow rules, I'll run things slightly differently this time around.

To be eligible to enter:

You must create and photograph a meal or a personally prepared food item and post at least one photograph of it here on this thread. The creators of the entries I like will be invited to join a private group for Tomb Raider. You can ask family or friends for help in creating these food items but you must post your own photograph with your SteamGifts username clearly visible in the photo next to the food without editing it in.

Judgment Criteria (not in any order of importance):

Creativity
Effort
Humor
Photography skills
Presentation
Optional: Relevance to video gaming
Bonus points for posting your recipe!

The giveaway ended at 12:00 PM EST on May 12, 2013.

Congratulations to the winner!

edit: crap i didn't know about the name until after i posted.. but this is my original content.. but from a while back - proof it's mine is over on my "food blog" Torai's FoodFight

"Tropic Punch"

I started with mixing massaman curry paste & oil in a wok, then added:

  • A handful of Kebab meat
  • A handful of Pinto beans

let it cook through and get marinated in the curry
i then added

  • A handful of mushrooms

and let them fry off.
Now comes the tropical bit!

  • 50-60 grams of pineapple (canned in own juice)

other than that:

  • 1½ handful of peas
  • a cup of vegetable stock (a cube dissolved in a cup of hot water)
  • Salt & pepper

and then i let it all simmer and reduce down until it was done

The end result tasted amazing, the pineapple really did the trick, a bit of sweetness and a bit of bitterness, it really made the dish, i shall call it.. Tropical Punch

Just going to dump another recipe for the hell of it:

Amazing "bean" bolognese

I've never made bolognese from scratch before, it's always been the quick way with a glass of dolmio and some meat heated up in like 15-20 minutes.

But a while back I saw Buddy Valestro (from cake boss on TLC) make a bolognese on his "sister" program kitchen boss which looked amazing, the trick was to let it simmer for hours at low heat

Contents:

  • a stalk of celery
  • Half a red bell pepper
  • Half a yellow bell pepper
  • Two spring onion
  • All of the above was minced/chopped
  • 4 sliced mushrooms
  • 2 cans of chopped tomatoes (I bought with basil)
  • Tomato can filled with water 1,5 times (for easy measurement)
  • 400 grams of ground beef
  • 1 veggie stock cube
  • Half a beef stock cube
  • A teaspoon of chili powder
  • A handful of black beans
  • A handful of pinto beans

Fry off the veggies and the add the beef and let it cook through, don't brown the beef.

Now add the tomatoes, water and stock cubes (possibly dissolve the cubes in the water first.

Reduce heat (I set it to 3, the Max is 6) and let it simmer for about an hour under lid, after the first hour put in the beans and lower the heat again (set to 2 of 6) and let it simmer for another hour to hour and a half

If you aren't on a diet, or your diet allows pasta, some fresh fettuccini would most likely be great with this, or perhaps some spaghetti

But I served it in heart lettuce leafs as a kind of taco shell

Traditionally for Orthodox Easter people here bake Easter cupcakes, and my family makes them with chocolate topping, while most of the people make it with sugar icing. This time my mom made this cuteness:

Romantic
With a friend
Dreaming togeter
Welcoming sun

The pinky one is fully edible except for those threads. ^_^

Stuffed Stuffed and Wrapped Chicken
You will need: 8-12 Chicken thighs, cheddar cheese (shredded preferred), a pound of bacon, and as many jalapenos as you have chicken thighs (substitute habanero if you want it really hot).

1 - Butterfly chicken thighs to remove bones and then pound them flat
2 - Stuff jalapenos with cheddar cheese, block cheese is fine but shredded will be easier to pack in and melt down (remove seeds and ribs of the peppers if you want the end product less spicy)
3 - wrap the pounded chicken thigh around the jalapeno, try to cover the ends of it or the cheese will run out
4 - wrap bacon around the chicken (go in the opposite direction of the chicken (this will also help contain the cheese), I should have done it that way.
5 - secure the bacon and chicken with a few toothpicks.
6 - grill until chicken is cooked through.
7 - if your cheese all ran out put more shredded cheddar over the top on the grill and melt it over it like a cheeseburger.
8 - eat your cheesy, spicy, bacony goodnees.

Obviously not something that will pop on any "Lite" menu but they will make an impression next time you have people over for grilling and a few beers. Next time I do them I am going to make sure they are completely wrapped by pounding the chicken a bit thinner, which will help it cook faster as well. I am going to do almost all jalapenos but one habanero and one ghost chili next time so it will be like Bacon Chicken Roulette at the dinner table.

Another just for the lulz..

Midnight Spicy Meatballs

i just winged this one, had a hankering for some meatballs in the middle of the night, so these "directions" might be a bit confusing and not a 100% accurate - started out with a hot pan w. oil, added about a tblspoon of sriracha sauce and let it mix with the oil, added two handfuls of sliced mushrooms and got them coated in the scriracha, added salt, a dash of dried basil and oregano and let them cook through. i add about 12 defrosted (store bought) meatballs and fry them for a bit, i then add a splash of soy sauce and about a teaspoon of sugar, let it simmer a bit - then add 1/4 cup of ketchup and 3/4 cup of water witth a dissolved vegetable stock cube and let it all simmer, i taste and add a bit more sugar and a splash of cold coffee (old tip i got if something taste a bit too salty) and let it simmer again - i then add about 2-3 tbl spoons of grated pecorino cheese (i think it's pecorino but i threw the bag out but it was quite similar to grated parmesan) and let it simmer a last time before serving in a bowl
(i might have forgotten something but i think i got 99% of it)

Traditional Hungarian "Fish 'n Companion Cube"

Ingredients:

  • Fish
  • Rice
  • Vegetables mix
  • Some spice and salt
  • Patience
  • Time

You fry the fish. Cook the rice, braise vegetables, and mix the rice with the vegetables mix. (that's very important).
Should look like this.
Once you have the mix-mix comes the fun part: you have to take out the vegetables from the rice.
Yeah, this is very important, that's how I did it. :D
When you have the stuff separated, you can work on the Companion Cube.
Here, a couple more pictures.

I hope I've met all the criteria. :)
