So...after the season finale i don't even know what to think anymore.
I honestly hope the White Walkers actually conquer the entire world and kill every single person.
My last hope stays with Bran Stark though...and i hate it that he didn't even appear in this season.
If he doesn't succeed, i root for the White Walkers.
I also would really like to see the zombie Mountain killing the High Sparrow and all those nasty people, but i still want Cersei to die a horrible death. Along with every single member of the Night's Watch. Also, i hope Sansa and Theon died from that jump...it looks like it. Sansa was always a miserable fool. She deserved it. What about Arya though? What happened to her? xD I had high expectations from her.
Oh well...this George R. R. Martin sure knows how to kill everyone's dreams...

Can you explain how you still like Stannis even though he sacrificed his own daughter? I mean, murdering his brother didn't make me loathe him in the books or the show (Spoilers from the books)and since both he and Shireen are still alive in the books, he's still one of my favorite characters.

I like the book-Stannis.

The HBO-Stannis is an idiot
Azor Ahai had to sacrifice his wife, I can't blame him if he will sacrifice Shireen for the kingdom (even if in the tv show looks like he barely cares about his daughter :| and even if I like Shireen).
Well, he's not sacrificing Shireen for the kingdom, but for winning against the Bolton, but he things that he's the only hope for the mankind, he doesn't want the Throne per se. I think the book-Stannis will be very different even if the plot will stay the same.
Also according to HBO things went like that: "Lord commandah, The Bolton are charging us !" "Oh, sorry I was afk lol"

Ah ok, so basically we agree:)

Also yeah Also according to HBO things went like that: "Lord commandah, The Bolton are charging us !" "Oh, sorry I was afk lol" Couldn't agree more, wtf was that about? He's supposed to be this brilliant commander:Where are his scouts, where were his outlying troops? I guess in the show all the sellswords took the horses, so that explains why he had no outriders or pickets. Still, he fucked up.

They should have stopped, set up sentries and wheeled the siege engines into position to take range, or were there one of those either on the show? May need to re-watch that scene where the soldier tells him about the mass desertion.

Oh that's right, another completely ridiculously contrived plot device, lol. There just aren't a lot of historical examples of this happening to such a large extent, and the book fan in me cleaves to the concept that ASOIAF is basically "Fantistory", silly as that may seem.

I liked Stannis until the end. I felt sorry for him for what he felt like he had to do. Sorry that he was "under Melisandre's spell". Obviously he was not really okay with it, but since he had done it he felt like he could not have sacrificed Shireen for nothing, and what the hell did anything even matter anymore. Ofc he wasn't brilliant anymore at the end, he was a desperate, broken man.

I've been struggling with many of the changes in this entire season, being a fan of the book series since 2000. Last week's episode with the total departure from the sort of man Stannis Baratheon is meant to be just disgusted me, and they've got a lot of work to do to convince me it's worth caring about season 6. He went from being one of my favorite book characters to being someone I no longer recognized.

(Spoilers for fellow book readers)At least Sam will finally go to Oldtown, which means maybe we will see Quentyn Martell in Mereen. I'm still pissed about Davos not going to White Harbor to speak with Ser Manderly, since those are some of my favorite scenes in the book.

People who only watch the show are missing so much, although I don't begrudge the creators nor GRRM for the limitations imposed on them by television, even if the writers sometimes do senseless things.

I haven't been able to find anything definitive, just hints about who they're looking to fill certain roles. So far it seems that we'll finally see Euron and hopefully even Asha/whatever her name is on the show and Victarion again, and maybe even have that epic scene at the you-know-where-island. Chances are also Randyll Tarley will appear. I didn't see anything that explicitly stated they'd cast a Wyman.

Right, about a book series that has been out for MANY years.

I've hosted a GoT night since season 2 started, with a majority of the people not having read the books. Their reactions compared to those of us who have read the books are quite dramatic. I'm just saying, all this speculation and "OMG Jon Died!!!1!11" "OMG Staniss!!11!1" means nothing based off the TV series. HBO has already pissed off enough people with the Jayne/Sansa debacle this season if they deviate from Martin's books anymore they will not see the Season 10 that they are aiming for. Not to mention, all the leaks that have ruined any potential cliffhangers or changes to the story they have made. Next Season's casting leaks as well as contract leaks have given a lot of information that many networks would try to hide.

I'm simply saying that quite a bit of information is already out there, and people act like the series is the canon for this all. If you've read the books then 90% of the show is not a surprise (Yes, Sansa you are part of the 10%, Shirene also) and most of it is so forecasted that you can easily predict what is happening imo.

Personally, as a fan of the books, I feel like this season has been HBO giving Martin the finger since he took so long for the next book. The have taken many more liberties this season and I would not be surprised to see a show that does not match up with the novel in the future, which will cause an exodus from the fanbase and see the show slowly die off.

"which will cause an exodus from the fanbase and see the show slowly die off." Or it will be like The Walking Dead where many longtime fans of the graphic novels (such as myself) quit watching midway through season 3 or thereabouts.

It is refreshing to read other comments from ASOIAF fans here who have been displeased at the extreme liberties taken the past season(and before, I daresay).

I think that even if we diehard book fans quit watching the show, it will still have a huge fan-base since it already has a bigger audience than the books ever did; the books have certainly gained more fans from the show but not necessarily vice versa.

Consider this. Cersei is found guilty of incest and Tommen (her last remaining living child) is found to be a product of that incest. The sentence is death, for Tommen not Cersei. Tommen is executed in front of Cersei, much in the same way Joffery had Ned executed in front of Sansa.

maybe since they don't play out well compressed in the format of a ~53 min. video

Well, let me say this:

  1. I'm glad that knight who had sex with underage girls got what was coming to him. Arya went fucking berserk on him.
  2. I'm glad Cersei got humiliated. She needed that a lot. It was brutal but necessary. She's been a bitch since the beginning of the show. Oh and I like her tatas, she got a nice body.
  3. Jon Snow? Biggest surprise. Shows that people from Night's Watch are savages who know only violence and would respond to anyone with violence (Wildlings, Jon etc.) who disagrees with them. Typical mob lynch kind of thing. Despicable human beings. Even the little kid, I hope he'll have nightmares of what he did to Jon until he dies of old age. Good thing Sam left, it was his last call. Without Jon there he and the girl would die or suffer even worse fate.

The Scene of Jon Snow was expected has the books say
The Tyrion scene was pretty good, i like the concept of him and Varys trying to fix Mereen
Danny's scene was also interesting, expected from the books
I didn't expect that they would kill Myrcella o.o that caught me off.

First things first, yes I'm a heathen, I've only watched the show and never read the books, go fuck yourself if you have a problem with that.

Secondly:

Cersei needs to die painfully, Margery needs to come back to her husband so she and Tommen can rule properly, at least until the TRUE King turns up (that being said, I could really not care less about anyone in King's Landing right now, the more deaths AND the more violence the better).

I really feel for Jaime having his moment with his daughter ripped away like it was, though I don't think I'll ever give his daughter another thought, whatever her name was...and I hope he's the one who takes Ellaria's life...and I hope Bronn kills that little bitch of hers too, the one who flashed her little titties all over the jail cell. Don't get me wrong, I don't think Ellaria is wrong at ALL in her anger and grief over Oberyn, I just think she's channeling it completely wrong.

Bronn is a fucking CHAMPION! As are Ser Davos (poor bastard, he treated Stannis' daughter far better then her own father ever did, he's gonna be devastated) and Ser Jorah (even if he never ends up with Dany who can go die in a fire ditch).

Sansa who? Theon who? Seriously, the only thing that keeps me watching that story is the hope that Ramsay would get to emasculate Stannis fucked up severely by Karma...I mean, Theon was never a favourite of mine, I liked him well enough until he turned his back on the Starks, but however much of a prick he was he didn't deserve to have HIS prick removed or be broken like he is...

I'm VERY quickly losing interest in Arya now that The Hound is gone...she's fucking boring...Jaqen intrigues me though...

Isn't Baelish dead yet? He can take Varys with him when he dies too, I never liked either character (but I do like Aiden Gillen)

Seriously, can someone PLEASE kill Dany? She shits me, whiny little bitch...Ser Jorah and that dude she was fucking (and now Tyrion) are the only aspects of her story that kept me watching...oh, and Greyworm...

MOAR TYRION!

Brienne & Jaime need to get together and Pod needs to complete his training and become a knight...

Fuck those Night's Watch cowards, Jon better be back! Oh, and we need to get back to Bran next season, and maybe see what's going on with Rickon...

I think that's all? If I've left anyone out then I probably don't give a fuck about them...

lol, you're all over the place! I've only watched the show as well, although I know bits and pieces about the storylines of the books as well. I know that King Tommen is supposed to be like 10 in the books, which kind of hamstrings the show to a certain extent. I know they deviate quite a bit, but they only have so much latitude. And how awesome is Zombie Mountain! And King's Landing is a complete cesspool that needs to be burnt to the ground and wiped from the planet. Its nothing but 1%-ers and whores and there's nothing redeemable in that city.

I've always disliked the actress who plays Ellaria in GoT. She was on Human Target years ago, and I think she just makes a really unlikable character, regardless of the character. As for the girl that flashed her tits in the jail, I hope she sticks around. Not because of the flashing but just because I think she could be the more interesting of the girls. Besides, short hair on women looks good on some women, but it never makes a women look good.

And no, no one is allowed to kill Dany. She's beautiful and she's one of the few characters that is actually making a developmental character arc. Everyone else is maintaining or devolving.

Yes, more Peter Dinklage in everything!

And I can't believe they went all Julius Caeser on Jon Snow! He may know nothing, but I still expected better from the Night's Watch. I knew a lot of them hated him, but I honestly thought that the First Ranger (whatever his name is) had enough honor to strongly disagree but still carry on. I thought after the Wildling raid he'd grown to respect Jon Snow enough to begrudgingly appreciate Snow's contributions to the overall welfare of the Watch.

From the perspective of the Watch, Jon Snow has failed to live up to his role as not just the Lord-Commander but also as a Brother. (I'd write more now but I'm a bit tired, if you want me to elucidate I gladly will but please reply so I have a placeholder message.;))

've always disliked the actress who plays Ellaria in GoT. She was on Human Target years ago, and I think she just makes a really unlikable character, regardless of the character. It's funny you say that! The actress, whom I don't have anything against personally, was also on two of my other favorite shows, Rome and Luther, and plays a tragic but still unlikeable character in the first and a thoroughly disreputable one in the second.

Oh man, I forgot she was on Luther also! That was the role in which I disliked her the least. Did you hear there's two more hourlong episodes of Luther coming this year? I heard the Bond rumors years ago, but I never really thought he'd be the right fight. He's awesome, but I don't really think of him as an action star. But I've always loved James Bond movies, both the good ones and the bad ones.

Well, part of the fun of Doctor Who is that each actor pretty much brings a blank slate, which means the one character can be a lot of different characters. Choosing an actor that is already that well known would seem rather backwards. Hell, might as well have Peter Dinklage do it, whenever he finishes with GoT.

1.) There are far too many plotlines for 10 hours a year.

2.) They've abandoned several plotlines.

4.) No resolution to the season, just 6 more cliffhangers and an unsatisfying death of a fan favourite character for pure shock value.

So much hate for the show on this thread, GRRM even said the books are the books and the show is the show, I personally loved this season and I'm really looking forward to the next one. Its more than understandable the the show derivatives a bit from the books because if it stayed 100% faithful to the books then there is no point in doing the show. I hope people appreciate the show for its specific storyline more than just hate it because it's not 200% faithful to its source material. I read on the ASOIAF wiki that it is shown that Jon Snow gets stabbed, sure it is not show if he dies or not, but that really happened.

So much hate for the show and people crying about the changes that I'm not sure if I should post my thoughts about it here. This season was better than the last one IMHO. Just please remember this is the show's season finale that (I suppose) we are talking about, and not if it's different than the books. I love the show and I really like the way its going.

Yes, I AM terribly saddened by most of the deaths since Ned, I LOVE Sean Bean and I HATE that he seems to have a death clause written into his contracts, but almost every death has hit me in some way...well, except the apparent death of Stannis and the death of Joffrey...and of course the deaths of all the extras in the big battles...but I applaud Martin and the showrunners both for not really giving a shit about "the way things are done" and just killing whoever for the sole reason of it making sense in the story..

As much as I hated seeing Ned die so soon, it served the story, we wouldn't have Game Of Thrones (or possibly even ASOIAF, I wouldn't know as I haven't read them yet) if Ned were alive, it would be an entirely different landscape. The same goes for the Starks an d the Red Wedding, Renly, Oberyn, The Hound, Ygritte, and now Jon Snow......none of them have been meaningless deaths...therefore they are all good deaths in their ways
