Star Wars: The Force Awakens Discussion Thread (Spoiler Free)

Just came from the cinema from the earliest film screening at 00:05 on 17 December. I just had to be among the first ones :) Got myself a BB8 cup topper :D The cup itself wasn't SW themed, my local cinema got greedy and used Madagascar 3 plastic cups from 2012 :C Such a disgrace...

I've got mixed impressions from the movie, to be honest. I'd say that it was more than good, but there still were things that I didn't like. But that didn't stop me from spilling some tears of joy and happiness anyway. Nice sequel of the Original Trilogy, really looking forward to see the next ones! Good job, JJ!

I suggest waiting some time before reading the reviews, since there will be tons of fanboys at first days after the premiere.

i watched it today, first time star wars and i liked it!

Already got our tickets and will be seeing it this Sunday afternoon.
That means I'll have to avoid most of the internet starting tomorrow after work until I've seen it. Gives me plenty of time to rewatch the first 6 episodes (in order of 4, 5, 1, 2, 3, 6). Of course, I might just skip the prequel movies and watch the "phantom edit" off youtube instead.

No thanks, I already had one universe ruined by JJ Abrams. Not going to give him a chance at ruining another one.

It has premiere in my country in 12 hours so goibng to cinema in 12 hours ;p

Keep in mind that many of the early reviews are from people paid to say good things about the movie. The other movie-goers who share their opinions of it right after they've seen it are often so hyped and excited from seeing a movie like this in an actual cinema, that their judgement is blurred. I'd say, take reviews with a grain of salt until the hype has died down, and people have actually sat down and thought the movie through.

I'm watching it tonight. Also thanks for those idiots who have been spreadinga pretty big spoiler over the internet. I ate it yesterday when looking at the Facebook comments of a Marvel related comic thingy, and someone posted it over there.

Haven't seen the movie yet but I spoiled everything for myself on purpose so now if people try to do that to me I'll be like Han Solo with "I know".

I just saw it. It was a good movie but the story felt a bit simplistic and I wasn't invested in the new characters, they were a bit boring. Adam Driver was better than I expected though. Forbes reviewer put it well: "Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan’s screenplay feels like a “greatest hits” reel of the first three movies, with the thinnest of possible stories on which to hang chases and escapes along with nostalgic callbacks."

It was okay, but a bit too childish. I mean yeah it's disney but after some dark scenes from prequels I expected it to be ... I don't know I expected to see a bit of blood you know ...

I'm watching it in about 20 hours. Really looking forward to it! That and Fallout 4 was this year's birthday gifts from the GF. Can't complain :D

Just finished watching it. Very good movie actually, much better than I expected.

Without spoiling anything, best star wars since Jedi and beats the prequel movies hands down. Does give you quite a few questions though :P

I never watched a Star Wars film before, I wanted to watch the new film but I think it might not worth it considering I know nothing about basic in Star Wars. LOL

I just got back from movie theater... CAN'T WAIT FOR THE SEQUELS!

I've just came from cinema and... I have mixed feelings about it, at some point it's good but from the other hand I'm bit dissapointed. It's definitely great and worth watching for franchise newcomers, for younger audience which didn't have opportunity to experience it before (well or those who lived under a rock for last 30 years). But my disappointment results from reskining original trillogy. No spoilers but if you are familiar with New Hope and Return of the Jedi there is very little in SW VII that you haven't seen before. And this ending... ok ok most movies were end in this - wait for sequel - way but in here... oh dear lord, I am able to already tell you what will happen in next movie, antagonisk will return wearing his grandfather mask and so on... Writing really sucks, and speaking about antagonist... just NO. We talked about this one with friends a lot. We do not want emo twilight pussy guy as antagonist, it just doesn't feel right, remember first time you saw Darth Vader ? Or Empreror ? Or Darth Maul ? Jesus Count Dooku even... they had something that make you believe they are not a good guys, And now when antagonist - which i can't even remeber already - took off his mask i couldn't stop laughing, that just doesn't feel right. Well i could go on and on about what this movie does right or bad but I suggest you just go now and watch it. Overall its ok, though there will be a lot of fans that will say its passable at best, better then Phantom Menace of course but it's definitely not 10/10 title.
Still, just as i said go out and watch it, after all it's worth it. For me, as fan of the franchise 7/10 though. It's good movie no doubt about that, but GOOD, nothing more.
