Which is considered pirating... I don't think that's a smart thing to say in the public.

I suppose but there's usually no way to prove it and emulation is considered pirating either way. I don't agree with it for my own personal reasons but most sites don't allow pirating suggestions.

Fair enough. I just thought it was iffy to be talking about emulation in general.

well it's against the rules to talk about piracy yes, but I think emulation is an exception in cases like these as long as it's not outright mass downloading of a whole systems library. I personally don't like when people talk about emulation in forums when they are obviously not paying for anything because that just spreads it around to people who had no intention to pay for anything either. and though emulation is now in a way outdated, before you could say that you could emulate PS2 and Wii games cus the emulator could output at better resolutions and anti-aliasing so u could buy the game and then emulate it instead of using the console since it would look better on PC :D, that and Save states ;D

Emulators themselves are not inherently illegal, it's when you use code owned by someone that they become illegal. Some emulators don't, so they themselves are fully legal, you just need access to legal copies of the games you want to play. For CD & DVD-based systems, you can just insert the CD/DVD into your DVD-drive and it will work.
And then there are emulators like DOSBox & Scummvm, which are so legal that most re-releases of older games on Steam and other places (GOG, GG, DotEMU and so on) use them.

They ARE still associated with pirating. Point is, it's typically not a good idea to talk about it. I suppose it doesn't matter though.

in germany they are in the "green pepper" series and you get part 1 or two for about 5€
would love to see b&w on steam :(

If you want a great god game by ol' Pete, then check out Populous (1 & 2 in particular). They blow Black & White out of the water. Black & White was were Pete lost a lot of goodwill, as he promised so many features that never made it into the game. He did this with Dungeon Keeper as well, but Dungeon Keeper worked better, so people did not seem to mind.

I still play this on win7. Somewhere I have detailed instructions on how to make it work. If youre interested I can dig them out later on.
Are there any more games like this? I played it and 2, but Microsoft owns the IP now and has no intention of making more.

But you can be sure that Super Dumper Master Chief Extended Legendary Collection Edition is around the corner.
So many good games with interesting mechanics have been left to rot somewhere, that simple graphical upgrade would make them so much money that is just plain stupid. And even that is not 100% that they know how to do, if you can recall Age of Empires and Stronghold HD re-releases.
P.S. I know that is not that simple, but sure is easier then making it from the scratch.

Thank you but at the moment I have too many games to play, I'll replay them in a few years ;)
Are there any more games like this?
Yes!: you can try the Populous series, the magnificent Reprisal universe (go buy it!) and the not so great From Dust (never played this one though).
They are quite different from Black and White but they are god game nevertheless :)

Destroy All Humans 1 was great, 2 was also good iirc. After that not so much..
I'll look into it, didn't think Xbox or PS2 had any good emulators. I'll probably have to wait until I finish building my new PC though, doubt this one could run decently.

I ran PCSX2 in an old Intel Core Duo 2 @ 1.8 GHz laptop w/ ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 graphics card without much trouble. As Pandryl says, optimum settings for each game (you'll find yourself into the config menus a lot tweaking things for each specific game) vary a lot, but if you're willing to settle with not-so-great quality for some games, I can guarantee you the emu will run in a potato.
Just make sure you don't run your DVDs directly but instead rip the ISOs first, it's way faster that way.

Brute Force is pretty easy to still play.
Just go find a random puzzle on the forum, and enjoy the brute forcing.

From this I may assume that you don't like puzzles. Or am I mistaken? Not all of them are "guess the number"-type.

I never played the games, but I loved the show as a kid.

If I'm not mistaken, Deadpool was on Steam and the retired.
I would really like to play that.

I still have the CD's, but those games haven't yet come to digital distribution.

There's a few older games I've been wanting to play but I no longer own the game/system and unfortunately they aren't on Steam. What about you guys?
Games I wish I could still play:
Brute Force
Celebrity Deathmatch (with a friend)
Destroy All Humans!
Conker: Live & Reloaded
Soul Calibur 2
Viva Piñata (not quite old, don't judge me)
