I sort of have to agree with you. It feels like somewhat exploiting the CV system.

I knew I'd come across people who would make comments like these. But yes I know it's just Digital Numbers but my argument would be you haven't contributed that many games to this community making you not understand other contributors thoughts.

The problem with that is that there can't be a time frame since people would buy the games on sale and then horde them until the time frame. All it would be doing is delaying the issue, which just hurts everyone in the long run.
And if you don't think people would actually do that, I envy your innocence.

If you look at it in a positive way then this exploit is creating more giveaways which is always a good thing. Whether it is for the wrong or right reasons it is still creating more giveaways and you never know if these people may give more significant things away down the road.

They buy games. Steam wins money.
They give away games here. We win points and the winner wins a game.
They receive CV. They win.
How can you dislike this win-win situation?
Oh, I didn't know Time Gentlemen and Puzzle Kingdom were on sale! I think I'll buy them for myself, since apparently that's the way I should roll.

Another perspective is that Steam/Valve is continuously having good profit. Which I don't mind. Another perspective to follow up with that is that they give good discounts to people or gamers while there are things that are important like food and bills.

Most of my winners tended to not have a lot of games on steam/wins on the site from what I saw and while it didn't take half an hour to go back up to 75% like sleeping dogs did last year, it did go up eventually so not everyone that wanted to try them out got a chance to for that low. Would I likely have made the giveaways if they were counted as bundles, really not sure as I'm on the broke side myself. Will I whine and complain if they do get added to the list, maybe a little to myself as I'll be back under 100 but ehh, that's the breaks.

By this logic this site could never work. What about games from Amazon that are in bundles -93%? What about people in different region? Russians have way cheaper games on Steam which in reality makes, when you convert it to $, almost all games "bundle games". What about Europe/Australia? There people have games more expensive and here they get less points.

It's not a mistake; you never see something like, "You making me sad. :)"
Now on topic. You are here lot more longer than me, but still I think, I need to tell you something about CV. :) To make for example 2000$ CV you need approximately 150-250$. Amazon, gmg, bundles, sometimes steam, but mainly Amazon. :P
Everybody buying the games on discounts, and there's nothing wrong with it. :)

Ah yes. A very uncommon thing I'd see XD
But not really. Joined like Jan 2013. Anyways, that is a very interesting point. Never bothered to do that math.
But you are right. Nothing wrong giving away discounted games. And I guess I was right saying I made a big fuss haha

I bought Iron Warriors for me as a gift and also entered the Iron Warriors many times and also bought another gift which I will gift here. But I dont come to play it because i dont want to open my gift because its so special.
And I think for punishment he should immediatly buy a copy of Iron Warriors and gift it :D so we can enter it.

Best Buy was giving out Metro Last Light for $0.01, better add that to the bundle list. Oh, and There was a pricing error on the Borderlands 2 4-pack that put it over a 90% discount, better add that to the bundle list. Not to mention the Bethesda bundle pricing error, so every Bethesda game from Fallout to The Elder Scrolls and Dishonored gets put in the bundle list. And the Amazon bundles where the individual games cost something like $100 total and get sold for $10, better go through the history of Amazon and add every game in a bundle they did to the list.
... you see why this is a bad idea now, right?

Yes, all very good points. The only one I was aware of was the Metro Last Light one. In a way, I don't like CV. But I care about my CV as well. Which makes me kinda contradicted on which side or point to agree. But everyone's response here helped me to care less about CV. :]

I honestly disagree because people are spending money to get 1 game for that price rather than around 5 games for that price.
Also keep in mind that there are people who have no way to buy games due to lack of credit card or paypal. Or a game may not be available in their country. People are entering these giveaways. If no one is interested, then no one would enter them. It's definitely appreciated that someone would give something away that they spent money on whether it is a 90% off game or a bundle game.
And if you aren't interested in them, then at least you probably can appreciate the points to spend on games you do want.

Actually, I can guess that the large majority of people entering giveaways don't really care about the game they're entering into. Rather they are in a mindset of "Oooo...free games! Me want!" IMO.

I don't see any topics regarding this but I decided to make this. So I've seen multiple copies of Tomb Raider Games(Not anymore), Time Gentlemen, Iron Warriors, Puzzle Kingdoms, and Ironclads being given away. I think these "90% off games" should count as Bundle Games.
For a somewhat recent example can be the Humble Bundle with Android 6. With no Bundle cap you can get about $85 value. When I saw the Tomb Raider Games being given away, that is an easy $42 - $67 value right there.
Now I'm pretty sure I'm going to upset those who have given those games that I have mentioned, but is your(or their) reasoning to giveaway those significantly cheap games for CV and enter High CV Giveaways?
Anyway, what are your thoughts Steamgifts Community and SG Moderators?
Edit: Brought to my attention that Time Gentlemen, Puzzle Kingdoms, and Puzzle Kingdoms have the asterisk (*). But Tomb Raiders and Iron Warriors: T - 72 Tank Command don't.
Thank you for all your feedback! Well thought out ones or ones that didn't even care for what I said. But I'm closing this because starting off there was so much negative energy. But it's summer and the Summer Sale is on! Enjoy, and I'm sorry for those who had to experience the negativeness >_<
