A little bit generic but in my opinion the best pet is a dog.
Woofs away! :)

Well, i had a 100 litre aquarium, and cant say its that easy to take care/clean it.
It took less time to clean up after my exGF parrot or my rats.

CATS CATS CATS
1- real attachment and bonding just like dogs, while lots of 'pets' are species uncapable of bonding or where bonding is too rare
2- way waaaaaay easier to manage then dogs
3- likes you because you're cool and friendly(if you are, lots of people say cats don't like owners because they don't really like their cats).
Dogs on the other hand are hardwired (wolf pack instinct) to like and fear the alpha- that is the owner.
Btw there comes the true saying 'dogs are best friends'- they will like and cry for approval even if their owner mistreat then. Heck, if you torture a dog he won't like you but will want your respect and aproval.
4- they wont eat any furniture or shoes
5- some few steps while your cat is young and they won't piss or shit in the house. Seriously, i owned generations of cats even 21 at some point (lived in a farm, my mom decided 'why not?'. go figure), and it just needed 2 or 3 cautionary actions showing pups they did something wrong and done.
While im a cat person im not anti-dog by any means, i love dogs and miss the ones i had so much.
They're just a lot of work and attention in comparison. Surely my cats love and demand attention and i love giving it to them but nothing gets in the way of my routine or extra costs nor anything like that.
Biggest con of cats:
-You can't play with then on the beach, parks or street
Cats love playing, but only pups asks to play with.
-They WILL walk all over keyboard for attention. they WILL
Dogs:
-Have the space? Have time and money to give them what they really need? then go for it.
-Both dogs and cats are better to have at least 2- so they give company to one another when no one is around - but dogs are a hit or miss where one gets along with the other. When cats don't get along they just mostly ignore one another but dogs... heck i got serious wounds trying to separate a fight that got too nasty.
If you will have only one then you surely need to give him extra attention and not left alone for long; Otherwise mischiefs like shiting in bad places and destroying stuff can happen frequently or form bad habits.
-Have somewhere to take then for a walk? Its a joy. If on the other hand you get pissed to 'have to walk the dog' then avoid.
So cats are the firesure suggestion.
-Fish: doesn't even understand what you are, not even a clue. Just dead goggly eyes staring into the abyss of non-thinking, eternally opening and closing those mouths...
-Rats: they just want to escape to live somewhere else. Bonding is rare or harder.
-Guinea pigs: no one convinces me they make real bonds as far as i saw. They show pleasure when you show up because they show pleasure to feeding. I heard of examples of true friendness but rare.
-Snakes and parrots: don't. Those animals aren't for petting. Snakes may rarely appreciate grooming but won't really ask for it, all birds get very lonely unless you get a pair- and sincerly, nothing in the world for me seens more cruel then putting a flying creature anywhere but on the wild.
-Lizards: dude, they kinda just exist. A bit less detached then fish but not far. Also not for petting.
Cats or dogs. Hear me on this one.
PS:
Everyone loves cats if given the chance.
My father in law hated cats all his life. Really, but mom loved cats and she got the final word.
It took about 3 months for him to stop bad mouthing the cats.
One year for him to admit they were ok.
Bit later he convinced my mom to let the cats sleep in their bed.
They grow on you. You can't really resist these ninja motherfuckers.

That is a really nice comparison chart :)
But as a rat owner, have to disagree. All of my rats with one exception (a fancy rat that was found on a street, and therefore afraid of everything for the first 3 months) was very bonded to me and members of my family. They really like to explore territory they live in, especially after you open a cage (maybe there is something new to fetch to nest), but after some time they always try to find you and play/groom you. One of my rats was obsessed with cleanliness of my head. Other one loved to just sit on me while i was watching TV. If rat trusts you, it will always come to you for cuddles and easily go asleep while you scratch little fella!

I look for the same qualities in pets that I look for in people: independence and dignity.
Therefore, cats. :3

Ferrets, hands down.
1) They have just as much (if not more) personality as a cat or dog, and are a lot smarter.
2) They're hilarious to watch :)
3) It's hard to teach a dog or cat to ride around on your shoulders like a parrot. My ferrets all did that, and could even switch sides while I was walking around.
4) If you have more than one (I had 5), they sleep in a huge tangled pile like they have rubber spines
5) They can get along with dogs and cats, with careful introduction. (works best to start when they're kittens or puppies)
6) You can find them in the weirdest places. Open the top dresser drawer and find a sleeping ferret amongst your clean socks xD
My ferrets teamed up to hunt my brothers dog into the corner and monkey pile on her. They took naps with her. They also played and slept with my family's cat.
When my nephew was little, one of my ferrets decided she was his mom. (she was the best mom he ever had too :P )
Whenever he would cry, she would hear him from across the house and come running from wherever she was sleeping. She would climb up by him and lick his face or hands squeaking away the whole time. She was so concerned for him <3

Ok, now i get it :)
People really can go to a very strange conclusions sometimes. As we are talking about pets, i was in a vet. clinic with my rat.
That was a visit after surgery (removed tumor), and one old lady said that i am tormenting rat, and should just put it out of pain.
I was like - WTF woman! Rat is feeling ok, surgery gone great (and rat lived for a year after that, and thats 1/3 of his average life).
Anyway, thanks for a heads up :)

Best idea is to have cat and dog in the same time xD

Yesterday i won a Ryse: Son of Rome GA, and today a friend of mine gifted me some Monthly Bundle keys!
One of those, surprisingly, was Ryse: Son of Rome, which i want to give to this great community.
IMPORTANT - HB says it cant be activated in RU/CIS
In order to enter GA (lvl 5+) you have to solve this ridiculously hard puzzle
Please, tell me your opinion on best pets to have :)
If you know good steam backgrounds and badges with rats, share your knowledge!
