Suggest a Pirate Game

Also check out Space Rangers 2. It's kind of similar gameplay to Sid Meier's Pirates (wandering around, attacking whoever, trading, etc) but turn based and set in space. It's also very funny in a weird sort of way.

Tropico 2:Pirates Cove. Really fun game. It has a pirate theme. :D The graphics only make it better.

Sid Mier's Pirates.

"Port Royale 2-3" is pretty nice I like them both. It's economic simulator. "Age of Pirates 2: City of Abandoned Ships" is not so popular as I know but it's awesome. It's action-adventure-rpg and it has old graphics but gameplay is various and interesting. Tropico 2 is town-planning strategy about pirates, I didn't play it much but it was nice as I remember. Space Rangers 2 is about space but there're some space pirates and gameplay similar to Sim Meier's Pirates so you can try it too. But I still recommend you Age of Pirates 2 because it's the best game about pirates I ever played (it's IMHO though).

• Sid Meier's Pirates for an action-adventure with strategic elements.
• Port Royale 2 for a much more strategic experience, but still featuring action-oriented sea battles (you can only control one ship at a time during battle).
• Patrician III is similar to Port Royale 2, but more focused on being a businessman rather than a pirate/privateer.
• Tropico 2* is a game about managing a pirate hideout. There are no manual sea battles involved.

All the above are good, and worth playing at some point in your life.

*Buying this pack is the only way to get Tropico 2 on Steam. The other game in the pack, the original Tropico, is also worth playing, but has nothing to do with pirates.

Some more options:

• If you're feeling adventurous, The Guild II: Pirates of the European Seas is something to try. Sadly, the game got released without proper testing, and it shows. Still, I enjoyed it enough to recommend it to anyone with sufficient patience. Once you work your way around the bugs and quirky mechanics, it can be quite enjoyable.
• Woody Two-Legs did a pretty good job of making me feel like a pirate with its soundtrack and art, but the arcade gameplay is too simplistic. Also, the game is short, and the enjoyment is even shorter. Unless you like score attack, in which case this could be exactly what you're looking for.
• Age of Pirates 2 (not available on Steam) is something I never quite got into*, so I don't know if it's any good. Still, if you go through everything else that interests you in the list, make sure to try it.

*Which is code for "I spent so much time messing around with the game in the initial areas that I never got to the seafaring part".

If you don't mind the pirates being in space:

• The X series is probably your best space piracy option. It's advisable to find mods that expand your possibilities as a pirate.
• Darkstar One allows you to play as a pirate. I wouldn't generally recommend this game though, it gets boring too quickly.
• Space Rangers is quite entertaining and also allows you to play as a pirate. The sequel is supposedly better in every way (haven't played it myself yet), so it's something I can definitely recommend.
• Space Pirates and Zombies is probably worth your time, if the game it's based on is anything to judge by. Although in that one you couldn't play as pirates.
