So, I recently won a The Ship Complete pack (thanks again square), and it turns out it's a double back thing, meaning when I added it to my library, I received a single tradeable/giftable The Ship Complete Pack. Now the question is, can I make a giveaway with it without breaking any site rules? I don't have anyone on my friendlist who doesn't already have it, or wouldn't sell it off in the first minute. I would like to give it away within my primary group if it is possible.

I think there is everything ok with that. In fact, I think that's what everyone is doing.

As long as you redeemed the game yourself, it's okay. Regifting is when you don't redeem what you won. It's no different than if you won a game, then later bought it to give away.

When you activate the original game it gives you 2 extra copies, then when someone activates those extra copies they each give another extra copy

Which is good since The Ship is now full of people and it's a good game.

I don't think the second one creates another copy. The one I got was named 2 Pack or something. The second one isn't.

You got a 2 Pack Gift. One for you,one in your inventory.

Because you did not activate the "original" game - you activated one of the 2 "The Ship 2 Pack" items that are spawned by the Original game.

"Original" (either bought from Steam or a key from the recent promotion )
--> spaws 2x "The Ship 2 Pack" in the inventory when activated

The Ship 2 Pack
--> spawns "The Ship Complete" in the inventory when activated

This is why i hate people who are giving them away. More and more people will easily get contribution status on the community without spending anything from their pockets. I feel ripped off.

Eack pack brings 5 games, which in return will give many chances to non contributors to boost up with a single giveaway of those games once they win one of them (as long as it isn't the last game in the chain, they will get an extra in return when activated always).

Don't hate them, they are doing nothing wrong, as it breaks no rules, as far as I have been told. If you want to blame someone, blame the site which gave away 15 thousand keys. And, you can always make contribution giveaways just a bit above the contribution value that one The Ship giveaway gives, if it bothers you that much.

That completly beats the purpose of the contributions legit gifters make. This is why people hide themselves in the dark or make outrageous rules to get in their giveaways. This is all too stupid, developer giveaways and free promotion games should have always been considered bad in this community, people got used to it and now we have a crapload of leechers defending this cause, because to their eyes, more giveaways = more chances to win and also more points and right now they also have a good chance of giving something in return (extra copy of the ship).

Tell me, does this make any sense when you compare this sort of attitude versus the people who spend their own money to gift things? F*ck, i really hate this stuff it pisses me off and gives me more of a reason to not give anything ever again in this website. It's stuff like this that ruins everything and splits the community into groups of favorites and legit ones to the eye of a few.

If i were CG i would lock every freaking free promotion game that was given on mass by developers or by an organization.

I spend my own money to gift things and I have no problem with the Ship giveaways. Just set your contribution requirements to over $30 if you care so much.

Also, it should be against the rules doing these giveaways. In the FAQ, rules mention that any sort of beta giveaways are not permitted, yet i see devs using this website to show off their games and giving away beta games all the freaking time and they also get contribution value for these. This is also another wrong thing CG is doing, if a player makes a beta giveaway he will likely get suspended/warned and his giveaway deleted, if its a dev beta giveaway it's all like "Oh come in, we welcome you, despite you are breaking some of our rules, we still welcome you with a cup of tea and a few hand shakes".

I was one of the most vocal opponents of bundling back before the way they were handled was changed and before contributor giveaways even existed. It's a virtual non-issue since the update. If you have that big a problem with it, then leave and go make your own website. No one cares about your whining.

I'm not going to leave just like that, i was here before any of that bullsh!t came along, probably long before you ever heard of this website, i lurked it for a good while and tried to earn an invitation the hardway, i'm not the one who should be leaving.

I came here when this freaking website required a damn invite to join the community, it took me a good amount of effort to earn that fucking invite back then, now i'm not going to simply vanish just because someone as retarded as you says me to do it. Fuck your reasoning on this one dude, and you should be the one leaving this topic right now before it gets any uglier than this. I earnt my damn invite so i do think i should voice my damn opinion as much i would like to about this website and how crappy is the path that's it's originally taking right now.

I would even link you another thread to show how wrong you are with that last sentence, but hey i'm not going to bother as i'm presuming you will do the smart action and not reply further to me, unless you want to do more flame baiting?

PS: I really wish some of the decisions CG made up to this date were never made, what was he thinking... >_<

I think you are feeling the same kind of rage some TF2 players did when it became free to play.

Not at all, i actually think TF2 going f2p was a good move, it was well planned out to begin with. The way SG went "f2p" was horrible, further "improvements" made with the site also made it even more horrible thant it was previously.

If you did say: "when tf2 became an economy and currency for alot of people out there", then yeah i raged to that. I used to play Team Fortress Classic regularly in the old days, when TF2 was announced i got hyped to buy it and play it, never had the computer that could handle the game back then, so i waited a bit longer than a year, bought orange box, played the game untill i saw what was becoming of it. Valve making hats ruin the game and work like a currency on the internets. I've seen alot of people and friends even, trading hats for games and even computer parts. I call this BS when i see, what used to be a great game turn into something as awfull as this. All i see now is people afking for drops and praying for unusuals or rare drops, pathetic.

Well, people are different, some enjoy just playing matches, some enjoy trading. (Most traders play while trading as well, on trade servers at least.) I don't blame you for being angry, but I think if the management had a problem with the sudden influx of free games they would have done something against it, and you shouldn't give up the whole site for this. So I think you just have to deal with it.

While we love free things here, webhosting is not. If cg helps pay the bills by letting developers giving us free games and betas, I'm totally ok with that.

Yes it might be strong, but nothing's too strong when i see people getting value in return for something they got for free from another place, it's basically the samething as regifting things you win.

Plus, lot's of us contributors spend money to make others happy. Then again when stuff like this happens, some of us will think twice or evil next time they will make a giveaway, and by that i mean, they will likely go from soft to hardcore gifting, more rules and traffic control in their giveaways. It's like the internets police all over the place nowadays.

Not sure if you are aware, but people can also get games through trading, so there are plenty of people who get contribution value without spending a dime. Who knows, there might be more people making giveways with games gotten from trading rather than buying directly.

That's a whole different story, but are you really going to try and trick me into believing people woh are giving away the ship right now, traded for it? Haha, sure... 10k keys were just given away in a couple of days, making a total of 50k copies out there on steam. Now imagine if 1/5 of these copies somehow managed theirselves into steamgifts. Just picture the balance in this, there's none right?

No, of course not, I'm pretty sure most of them are from the giveaways. The sudden influx is noticeable.
