I got the game through the glitch over IGN. Maybe I shouldn't move it to Steam.

Best not, just in case IGN decide to do anything. They probably won't though, they are all useless.

Contact EA support, tell them you'd like to have BF3 put on your Origin account.

Talk to them about how you got it through IGN and Gamestop, and they might put it on your account.

It is what I did and it worked, I never even had to prove I had BF3!

You can go on the Impulse Client and get the key that you can redeem on Origin.
You don't have to contact EA Support.

Are you sure? I mean can't Origin trace you? I got a key for BF3 but I'm just nervous they will screw me over lol.

Too bad I missed this, but I wouldn't be able to play anyways, with my PC's low specs.

  • I hope this is true.
  • I hope I'll be able to activate my retail key.
  • I hope it won't still require Origin as a third-party DRM.
  • I hope Battlelog dies a painful death, what were they even thinking

This. * 1000000.
Battlelog is terrible. It just adds to the already ridiculous loading times.

I'm not interested in BF3, but this would be great news.
Just hope all this Origin bullshit will be over, before ME3 is released.

Same here. I don't really care if BF3 is on Steam or not, but what I do hope is that EA realizes just how bad their sales are when people HAVE to use Origin rather than having the choice. Hopefully they will realize just how much damage they have done to themselves before ME3 comes out.

This. So much this. But I might even actually get BF3 when it's on Steam, since I'm somewhat of a Battlefield fan.
But Origin? DO NOT WANT.

Origin is a shitty service anyways, and EA's support team is hot garbage (see: banning people's accounts before they've even played, charging them extra money for no explainable reason, Origin scanning through your files). This game comes to Steam, and Origin players will likely go into an insane frenzy of calling support and demanding a refund so they can transfer to Steam instead of Origin. I will most definitely buy the game if it comes to Steam, but Origin will never be on my computer.

Keep in mind that they might just have copied the old rules (some steam redeemable game) to this promo (which is on origin).

Anyway, if bf3 comes to steam. I would really like to transfer my BF3 copy over.

Not a big deal, imho. I'm enjoying this great game while I'm connected to some server and forget about all those previous origin/battlelog/ect stuff. And you know why? It definitely worth it! Game is great, so why should I put my choice on the way I'll launch it? If BF3 'll move to steam, what will change? Selling platform and nothing more, so I'm playing and I don't care.

I wouldn't be surprised. First release it on Origin to push more users to use it then move it to Steam later on to finish up on the sales.

Who cares if it's on Steam. You will still be required to use Origin and BattleLog.

I would buy it if I could play it through Steam.

But there's a lot of other amazing games out/coming out, so I won't miss it much either way.

If Battlefield 3 is coming to Steam, I will personally hack Steam on the release date and get the game for me and then erase all the evidence of my super-hack ;D Na, seriously. It would be awesome if Battlefield 3 (swedish game for a swedish dude - oh yeah) did came to Steam. It's a good game indeed :)

I think you guys are really getting ahead of yourselves. It's pretty obvious they meant "Origin" instead of "Steam". The person probably just cut-n-pasted a previous contest and left the steampowered thing in without really knowing.

The PB thing is interesting though. But considreing the lack of corroboriating evidence in subsequent PB updates i'm not inclined to put too much quarter in it.

I don't think a huge graphics card company would make a mistake like that ;)
Companies like this go through their Ts and Cs with a fine comb to make sure its perfect

However, I don't disagree with you completely...

They say a steam code, but however also state "Sapphire reserves the right to change the PC Game code without any prior notification. "

You'd be surprised how much 'boilerplate' these things are. Since 99% of these kinds of things are basically the same between contests they just cut n paste "game A" with "game B" and call it a day. There's hardly a need to 'look it over'. Especially in the US, the only thing is you have to have some kind of 'free' way to enter or it's considered gambling. In some countries, like Canada, they make you fill in some stupid math question (on the order of 1+1=?) that way it's a game of 'skill' and not luck, which again gets around the gambling issue. Plus like you indicated there are lots of 'outs' for them if some stupid person decides to sue because they promised them a Steam version instead of on Origin.

Also note the contest already ended on Oct26, and I'm noticing a decided lack of "OMG I HAVE BF3 ON STEAM" posts from anyone on the forums.

Neat, but only if it does not require Origin to be running still. And Battlelog is still annoying as shit so either way it still sucks. But hey, at least I can use Steam in game browser which actually works AND talk to others in game. Problem is likely being forced to download the entire thing through Steam. I still have that IGN code so maybe I'll get lucky.

Didn't they remove Mass Effect 2 or something from steam to move it over to Origin? Unless it becomes to exspenive for EA to run Origin, I doubt they will give up on it. Making games exclusive to Origin is the only thing that is going to get people to use teh service.
