Interested in Flatout series, need advice

I think you should get Flatout Ultimate Carnage. It's basically a polished version of Flatout 2 although the music in Flatout 2 is better. Flatout 1 is a bit old and Flatout 3 is a really really bad game. Don't buy Flatout 3!
I own Flatout 2 and Ultimate Carnage and both games are very similiar and quite a lot of fun.

Flatout 1 is fine, Flatout 2 ís great and Ultimate Carnage is Flatout 2 with better graphics and some new things (I think there's few new cars).

So buy Ultimate Carnage, it's worth the money.

Flatout Ultimate Carnage or Flatout 2 if you can buy both. I love Flatout 1 and 2 and Ultimate Carnage

Well, you can buy Fallout 3, it's not that bad, BUT DON"T BUY NEW VEGAS!

I like first for stunt part, don't like racing part though.
and I like second/carnage for racing part, but not for stunts, except that throwing in cards which is awesome :)

Third is complete BS, it's just bad. DO NOT BUY THIRD!

As a long time player, FlatOut 2 is the better game for me. You can consider Ultimate Carnage as being FlatOut 2.5, it's essentially FO2 with updated graphics, however, the driving model and physics are far far more arcadey which in turns makes the gameplay terrible in my opinion.

FlatOut 2, despite being pretty much an arcade racer from the outlook, has actually a very good driving model, one of the best that I've played at least. It's the perfect balance of arcade silliness with the objects, nitro and slightly low gravity but realistic, almost simulation driving model and physics.

They completely "dumbed it down" for Ultimate Carnage where you can easily win races by simply accelerating forwards and letting the boundary of the track correct your position, in other words, you can just grind barriers and it has virtually zero effect on your speed.

So technically, FlatOut 2 is the better game, however it has slightly worse graphics and more importantly, they pulled the online multiplayer support (Gamespy) from the game, so you can only play online with 3rd party programs like Gameranger or Tunngle. It makes it hard to recommend on this point alone as multiplayer mayhem is really where the most fun is.

FlatOut 3 is an utter abomination though, do NOT buy that game on it's own. I hope Bugbear's Next Car Game goes back to their roots and emulates FO2 rather than FO:UC or FO3. FlatOut 1 is pretty mediocre as well.

Thanks for the input guys! Definitely sounds like Flatout 3 was a no-no, and Flatout 1 just isn't as good. So it's between 2 and UC. UC is prettier and has a little more content from the sound of it, and some liked it better, some liked 2 better. Also, 2 is cheaper, which I like. I'll figure it out.
