So I bought Future Soldier yesterday as the non-steam version.
I tried adding it to steam as non-steam, so I can use steam's overlay.
The game started and loading with steam, but I couldn't access the overlay.

Does anyone know why?

Try adding again maybe? Or restart Steam.

because of uplay. when you launch Future Soldier through the non-steam option, it'll launch uplay before you can play the game. uplay is able to open the overlay but once you click play on Future Soldier, that's like opening another program so the overlay doesn't function when you're in game.

Not all non-steam games support Steam overlay.

Hi guys. i play also g r f soldier with uplay and is a retail key(not a steam key).

You need to do this:
Add uplay as non steam game, you find it in program files, ubisoft and so on. (my eg. C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher)

Is like origin, i add origin and when i play battlefield 3 i got steam overlay.

When i play gr f soldier i got steam overlay with shift tab, uplay overlay with shift f2.

Sometimes overlay not working but 99% is working, you can rename your non steam game uplay as anything you want, sometimes i rename origin as battlefield 3.

ps> add me on steam to play with me gr fs, there are few players online.
