Direct2Drive currently has Fallout: New Vegas for 50% off if you use the following promo codes. Unfortunately the promo codes don't discount the DLC. If I recall correctly, Fallout: NV is a Steamworks title.

So tempted to do this... But the complete edition or whatever comes out in just a few months.

Release date for the Ultimate Edition is February 7th, I don't think it's worth it to get the original game now.

Any idea what the pricing will be like? If it's $50, then getting Fallout: NV piecemeal for 50% off each time would end up being cheaper than buying an ultimate edition that simply bundles up all the DLC with the game at full price.

For the people getting it now, it probably has something to do with not wanting to wait 1-2 months to see it go on sale on Steam. You get to play the base game now, and are ready for a Steam holiday sale to pick up the DLC at a discount. I agree that, if you feel that you can wait, you are probably better served by doing so, since the DLC will go on sale whenever Steam puts the base game on sale again.

The Ultimate Edition will probably be around the $40-$50 mark, but I'm pretty sure it would be get the 50% discount as well, when the rest of the DLC is discounted.
But you're right, if you desperately want the game, then just get it now and buy the DLC during sales.
I however, am not in a hurry, so probably waiting for a 75% deal on the Ultimate Edition during next summer sale.

50% off?

The price for Fallout: New Vegas in the UK on D2D is ridiculous. You can already buy it for £15 on Steam so it isn't really a deal. No doubt it'll be 50% off or more on Steam during the Christmas sales. Wait until then if you want it.

For those who don't want to wait for a Steam sale, you can probably submit to them a price alert or take advantage of price matching. D2D sometimes changes or temporarily reduces prices when enough people alert them (e.g. Saints Row 2 was on sale, unannounced, for one day to pricematch GamersGate's sale for the same item).

Had to pass. Could not shake the feeling that I would be buying an incomplete game since I don't buy DLC unless they come with the game due to some special.

DLC is just extra content. I'm sure the main game is worth the $10.
