Do you feel guilty for not giving some of your games the attention they deserve?
EDIT: Thanks to jims9350 for his awesome donation to my thread, we now have The Technomancer in the last wagon
EDIT2: All GAs ended, keys sent. I will leave the thread open for another day if anyone wants to comment/discuss some more :)
Thanks everyone for their encouragement and kind words :) Met awesome people, discussed with awesome people and started liking some people much more than before.

Thank you for your giveaways InquisitorDruss.
This is obviously a personal choice you, me or any other SG user makes because there's nothing about backlogs in the official and documented SG rules except that one has to follow clear SG rules like for example activating the win on your own Steam account.
On the upside, on ones own Steam account one can play whatever and whenever one likes. :3
Also concerning this, I have seen users randomly accusing other users of not playing their games\wins while at the same moment these same accusers have many, many thousands of giveaway entries more and a lot of wins more (that they mostly don't play) than those they are finger pointing at.
TL DR: This is a personal choice and decision that everyone can make by himself or herself.

Thank you for your input, my good man.
Indeed it is a personal choice and I am well-aware how many SG users don't care about their games ever being played and yet how many point fingers.
I do, however believe if it is not some trash game don't understand why anyone would want a game they don't want to play in the first place, but that is a whole other topic :D - it should be played or otherwise not entered.
I am a humble person and tend to always act accordingly, I just got caught up with a lot of stuff on my plate or should I say - in my library and felt guilty for quite some time.

Speaking for me personally, I check all my winners both automated (SGTools) and manually for breaking any SG rules like non activated wins, multiple wins, already owned,.. After those checks I send the game/gift to the winner and the very moment I send the game then it's not my game anymore but it's the winner his or her game.
The only thing I check after sending the game is if the game is activated to the winners Steam account. Afterwards I'm good either way what he or she does and it's certainly not up to me to say what someone has to play/to do or not on his or her Steam account.

Absolutely correct way of thinking.
I think that what's bugging me all this time (the whole past year) is the feeling that I am missing out on great stories, due to myself being an adventurous spirit - this could quite be the core of the "problem".

Thank you very much and I do agree. ^^

Thank you for the kind words, I do believe that it is my conscience speaking xD
But... I think what LostSoul was trying to say is that one should not be ashamed for not playing the games right away and that there is nothing against that in the TOS, not that it is cool to simply not play games at all. At least that is how I got it? o.O LostSoul can enlighten us...
Also, LostSoul seems to have a different approach to his GAs, which is different than mine (but only if there's a pricier/not-trash game in the question),and I respect his approach of severing all ties to the game he is giving away, giving absolute freedom to the winner to do what he/she will like to do.

What about giveaway descriptions where the creator asks that you don't enter unless you plan to play the game sometime soon? I've seen you preaching on and on about how disrespectful (of a white feather level and not rocket science 101, even) it is to disregard the creator's wishes. yet what you're saying here is that it's not disrespectful to enter those giveaways just for a library +1 simply on the basis that it's not "against the very real and documented SG rules?"
I check all my winners both automated (SGTools) and manually for breaking any SG rules like non activated wins, multiple wins, already owned,.. After those checks I send the game/gift to the winner and the very moment I send the game then it's not my game anymore but it's the winner his or her game.
Wrong. You also check them for VAC bans, which aren't against the "very real and documented rules of SG". You contradict yourself again, making up your own rules when desired. "Induced and imaginary SG rules" is your term for it, right? VAC bans aren't against the "very real and documented SG rules", either. So why do you forbid people with VAC bans from entering your giveaways?
When I eventually will have a high CV level I really hope I won't be a d-bag like some (very) high CV levels that will conjure up petty, superioric and infantile "custom " rules to " avoid a certain public " If you want to avoid people that in your eyes are not worthy of your giveaways there are other ways...
Remember saying that? It seems you like making up your own rules and using them as excuses for your behavior while disregarding those same rules when it suits you.
I find that of a white feather level.

I don't get where you got ANY of that, because I literally said everything opposite to that...

True! xD Thanks cbones and apologies, steffke! Need more coffee deffo! Anybody give me a refill?

You're wrong steffke, I checked it, and LostSoul has played won games. Here is proof:
http://steamcommunity.com/id/LosT_SouL_VL/stats/443650/?tab=achievements <- that game was an SG win, and with that proves you wrong
Here is a script you can install to check how much users play their won games, if you're interested in those stats. Remember that playtime could be from idling that is pretty common, but achievements is a pretty good way of seeing if people play their won games, and that achievement I linked to shows up on LostSoul's profile after running the script.
I could understand that someone like you would be upset if they had a winner who had won games like Dirt Rally, MGS V, The Witness, Total War: Warhammer, XCOM 2, Dragon's Dogma, FFIX, Just Cause 3, Darkest Dungeon, Stardew Valley, Grim Dawn, Tales of Zestiria , Cities Skylines and Mortal Kombat X, but never played any of those, but if you have such a user whitelisted and don't want them to have access to your expensive whitelist giveaways, you can simply remove them from your whitelist, and make sure to only have users who do play those kinds of games on your whitelist. It's probably the easiest way to deal with it if that's how you want to roll.

Hey, I just saw that yesterday! :) Didn't have the time to check it all out entirely, but I kept it in mind! thought about joining! Will check it out today, deffo :D

Hmmm... Apologies, milady. I have removed the BL. You may safely enter if you wish.
P.S. I think this is the first time someone has found out to be blacklisted by me xD

Ah, thanks terminator! You save the day once again! I will join the group as soon as I finish The Witcher: Enhanced Edition, since the requirement for joining that group is starting to play one of your wins that you still haven't :)

Mully, I must add you have the best stats when it comes to won games that I've checked... Especially today and yesterday xD
Anybody ever told you that you're an inspiration!? :D

No, seriously, I am highly inspired by your numbers and humbleness :D and your sarcasm too :P
Who dares say that 'bout our Mully!? :O
Also, might I add you on Steam?

Right now i have 878 games, and im sure 70% of that games are trash from that sites that gives free games.
But that of play games and don't beat them happens to me too, i thinks is a problem of the quantity of games we can reach.
I mean, 10 years ago there wasn't so many games released.
2016 was the year with more released games at steam.
We are steamrolled by the quantity and quality of games, and the day still have 24hs ;-)
Thanks for the train, and sorry about my English =P
Comment has been collapsed.
Absolutely right, my friend! The quantity IS the problem, and the lack of hours in the day as well :D
I have recognized that problem in music. Back in the day - I had to not eat in school for 2-3 days to be able to buy a new album from one group. ONE... ALBUM! :D And I'd listen to it for a month or two.
Now I get bored of an entire discography after a month. Although, truth be told, I do listen to music daily and everywhere I drive... compared to those days being able to listen to it only at home.

Here's my take on it: There are a lot of people here excited about playing games, and who would love to win a game they really want to play, and would make sure to play that game as well. For me, that's my favourite kind of winner, it really makes me happy that the money I spend go to giving someone hours and hours of enjoyment playing a good game.
Then there are those who aren't really interested in playing games, but wants to win games anyway. These kind of winners makes me sad. The money I spend on the giveaways end up being turned into another library +1 and maybe β¬0.30 from farming and selling the cards. I would much rather give them double the card money and send the game to someone who would play it in that case. It also seems like those who don't care about playing games more often have libraries with thousands of games, and are more interested in increasing that number than playing the games they already have.
So, everyone who tries to only win games they would actually play makes Steamgifts a better place in my opinion, but it will probably never happen that everyone just enters for games to play, not unless it's enforced by groups or other places where it's possible to have such rules that differ from the SG standard ones.
It's admirable that you're cutting down on the entries and aiming for games you would play. I hope you inspire more to do the same.

Thank you very much, tso184, for your kind words! Means a lot to me :)
That was my hidden agenda, to inspire others to do the same.

Absolutely, it is about respect as well...
I agree with everything you said, although, have a small correction to add: I do always enter only GAs for games that I will play. I just don't have the time to play them right away and I am feeling like I am missing out on a vast amount of great stories in games waiting for me. I do play all my wins, but I also have other games I personally bought and haven't touched yet. Or I tend to jump from a game to game, not being consistent pisses me off :D
Comment has been collapsed.
As long as the games get played, and it's reasonable to believe they actually will get played, that's fine by me.
If you have 10 000 games in your Steam Library, and have won 2000 games on Steamgifts, but you play 2 games every year, then there is no way those games would get played during your lifetime, and in my opinion, that win could have gotten a much better home.
Around 500 games and less than 50 wins, and already achievements in 90% of your wins (even if the average achievement ratio is a bit low, from jumping between games as you write): I would be much more happier with these stats from a winner, and confident that the games will get the playtime they deserve in time :)

Yeah, if you look at my first wins you will see I did the same xD not very picky back then... As a wise saying goes: We all come to a point in our lives where we decide should we become Konrad or not

Hello all,
this is your Inquisitor! Settle down, I am not here to prosecute you, instead, I am here to prosecute ME!
There comes a time when we realize we have so little time, yet so many games; so many games we haven't even touched yet, or there is a time when that particular thought is always on our mind, all the time... That is what happened to me.
Now, some will say how there is no such thing as "too many games", with which I wholeheartedly agree, but I am not saying there is too many games, I am saying that I have too many games.
I've been winning on SG, winning elsewhere, heck recently I won four games in just three days from different sources of giveaways! And I've come to a realization... I am hooked on winning!
Winning makes me feel great, and something about having games, knowing they are in our library, is inexplicably present with us all (especially during some nasty sales!) Oooooh, Imma buy this sucka, been wanting this game since forever, now I'll have it and I will play it sometimes...
Now, don't get me wrong, I've never entered a GA without an intention to play the game eventually , at least try it out, but it all lead to a situation where I cannot play the won game in the next two or three months, sometimes even more! Plus, I love RPG games, so imagine how much time a won game has to wait now that I have Fallout 4 or Baldur's Gate or... you get the picture :) I don't want to merely fire up the won game only to rack up some minutes so that the GA holder can see that I've played it, I want to enjoy it to its fullest, because that's why I've entered his GA in the first place!
It's hard to resist a great sale and a great GA with very few entries! ;)
I've come to a situation where I'd hop from a game to another game and not beat any of them. I do enjoy them but it frustrates me that I don't finish them if I already like them! And I started thinkin' how it was back in the day when I didn't have money, nor I had internet... I had a lot less games, hell you could count them on your fingers, and I'd beat them - one by one...
Therefore, I have decided to cut back on entries, A LOT, and only enter new AAA games that I won't be able to afford in the next years and maybe some rare gems xD But mostly - to catch up with all my games, all of them that I want to play, that I want to beat!
Some of you already practice this and some of you don't. And I admire most the philosophy of "only take what you need"
Thanks to anyone who read my little rambling right here and thanks to everyone who is still reading to this point :D
Now, as promised, a humble little train...
The Giveback train (#firstworldproblem train)
