How do I receive or earn more points (P)?
All users on the site are given an equal number of points, and you cannot do anything outside of waiting patiently to increase your number of points. The number of points being distributed to users is based on the number of giveaways being posted to the site, and you'll frequently see your points automatically rise throughout the day.

Have they changed the rules or just worded it differently?
It used to say "Every time anyone submits a game, every member of the site, excluding the giveaway creator, receives 5 percent of that gifts value (in USD) in points. For example, if a $50 gift is created, every user on the site receives 2.5 points. And, if a $20 gift is created, everyone would receive 1 point."
So technically speaking it wasn't equal (but near enough) and those who never made any giveaways actually got more than those who did.

Sorry to bump this old thread, but I have the same question and didn't think it merits its own thread. Did you ever figure this out?

Does the above quote regarding 5% game of value in points to non-creators remain true, or has it changed with SGv2 so that users all receive equal points? It's not an issue (why I didn't create a thread on it), I'm just curious.

afaik it's still same as it was. but i don't think it really matters anyway. i mean what's your main concern here? "if the giveaway creator is receiving points as well, people might create expensive fake giveaways." or "if the giveaway creator is not receiving points, it's unfair!" or something else? if the former, people have limited slots anyway. if the latter, who cares? if something else, i guess i should wait till i answer to that (well, at least untill i see what i should answer to.).

None of the above actually, I just searched for how point distribution worked (I didn't know of the 5% formula until tonight) and found this thread which piqued my curiosity on exactly how it works / if any changes happened.

Do you earn faster steamgifts points when u are higher level or everyone get same amount of points per hour ?
