Here we go, I'll start.

Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark (2010) - This movie is a joke. At first it's interesting, then it's boring and then it's just funny/pathetic. And they put it in a "horror" genre. Words are not sufficient. Nosferatu is turning in his grave. 3/10

No idea when I summed up my movie experiences the last time. Some movies that come to mind are ...

The Physician
Promising start, incredibly beautiful settings and images but the story was so bland and predictable and got so boring by the end. Still a 6/10.

Their Finest
Pretty much the opposite. Very slow, doesn't really lead anywhere to for a long time. But by the end I want to praise the film makers for their wonderful and smart construction, when all the pieces come together. 8/10

There Will Be Blood
This was probably the third time I've seen this movie and I still don't get the excitement about it. The acting is brilliant, the story ... nah. 6/10

City of Men
Just a good movie in every aspect. 7/10

Before I Fall
It's a variation of the Groundhog Day where the protagonist avoids all the most reasonable and obvious options. For the plot I'd give 5/10 but as it's sending some good message and also has a very impressive (and by far her best so far) performance by Zoey Deutch, I end up with 7/10.

The Head Hunter
The script is practically non existent but felt pretty decent to me. The Slow process of learning a new world by yourself makes it more tense and exciting.
There was a deliberate decision to cut down the action bits. which may seem weird, in a movie about a medieval warrior's killing monsters to achieve some piece of mind.
The thing is, it had a small budget. Whenever it's not minimalist, the tone switches to campy, some scenes are comparable to EVIL DEAD.
so, well...at least it's more effective, even if i would appreciate a proper battle.
The ending is disappointing. It feels like a "watch once and throw away" experience. It should add another layer to the plot, any excuse so people can recommend it for its beautiful shots and detailed sets.
6/10

Lifechanger
A shapeshifter has to switch bodies regularly in order to survive. Death, his incapability to adjust to society, his lack of a moral compass, are attracting unwanted attention from pretty much everywhere.

The way i see it.
It takes a lot of bad decisions to finally find who we are. what role we play, what we pursue, what makes us get out of bed.
The shapeshifters life is a facade, time windows get progressively shorter the closer we get to the end of the line.
What to thrive for, another job, a family?
The character in this movie, is a lost soul, every corpse is a failed identity, a failed attempt. His motivation of unparalleled love being just around the corner, seems like a final effort.

an idea is just that, it offers immense possibilities but it means nothing on its own. Lifechanger could have been good, but between one dimensional victims, terrible dialogue, unnecessary narration...idk, its not particularly good.
4/10

I'll Take Your Dead
A family does body disposal for a local gang. Except of the bodies is alive, so now this one girl is stuck inside the house, waiting for a decision from her current caretaker/butcher.
Similarly, and this is where i get lost in this plot. The Butcher's daughter can see ghosts around the house, of people that were dead and where disposed in this location.
The issue is, the movie leans heavily on the thriller side, and the supernatural feels completely unnecessary.
especially as i don't find much common ground between the 2 plots. Other than the expected ending, that was coming a mile away.

Kill List: A Psychological thriller/horror which tries too many things and gets lost on its way. It has some very interesting scenes, but I couldn't get into it because of the constant atmosphere changes. 6/10.
.
1408: Horror movie about a haunted hotel room. I found it ridiculous and exagerated at times, but I liked a couple of scenes. Still, not enough to enjoy it. 4/10.

Dragged Across Concrete. The new movie from S. Craig Zahler. Like his previous works, it is really slow paced, but now it felt like it tried to be a little more like Tarantino. Unlike Brawl in Cell Block 99, I never felt too attracted by the plot or the characters in general, and most of the times it was a pretty boring experience. 6/10.

Lethal Weapon: The classic macho movie. I normally like this kind of stuff, but this wasn't the case. Too many things in such a little time, and the main plot couldn't get well developed, resulting in a lot of stupid scenes (Specially the "final fight"). Also, the relationship between both of the main characters it was maybe too fast-paced (the transition between hate and love was like nothing), and none of them could get a proper development. Still, I got a little fun. 6/10.

Tesis. A spanish mystery thriller about a couple of college students who find a snuff movie on really weird circumstances. Pretty tense and interesting, with an incredible OST (for me). The bad thing about it... I didn't like the main character. 7/10.

Abre Los Ojos. Another spanish movie from the same director. This time it is a psychologycal thriller/drama pretty well developed. It was very intriguing at times and I can't say too many bad things about it, but I think it just wasn't my type of movie (maybe too much drama), because I got bored pretty fast, recovering the interest for the movie after one hour. 6/10.

PS: I apologize if my english wasn't that good. I accept corrections.

Huh. I'm not a fan of the horror genre and usually it just bores me. But to me 1408 was pretty enjoyable with a very different, smarter approach. :)

Might check out Tesis, my experience with Spanish movies is pretty positive generally.

I didn't used to be a fan either, until I met de psychological horror genre (even better if it has a touch of thriller on it). There are still more disappointments than it should be, but movies like The Shining, The Witch or The Thing make me keep trying.

And yes, I have had a lot of good experiences with spanish movies recently (particularly, with thrillers, which is my main genre), and I wasn't expecting too much over there.

If you like those, then my RL friend recommends Martyrs. This scene alone should explain it all.

I personally recommend Antichrist.

Oh, I watched Martyrs when I was a kid, and I remember that I didn't like the ending xD. Still, it is a movie that maybe I should rewatch.

Thank you for the recommendation. I was considering that movie too, but my brother didn't like it. I'll give it a chance someday.

The Fault in Our Stars

Like a trainwreck if the train conductor had terminal cancer.
I kept holding my head in disbelief, as it finally reaches its greatest moment, 2 kids making out in anne frank house over the aplauses of a crowd...Gross

Fleabag with Phoebe Waller-Bridge ("Fleabag"). watched the two seasons twice.
new, fresh and hella clever.
also, just discovered she actually created and written it... and (Oct. 5) she's to host Saturday Night Live alongside musical guest Taylor Swift:

"Ever since I saw Fleabag, I’ve been all ‘I can’t wait to see this woman host @nbcsnl’ and it’s happening now + I get to be there too = I am in shambles. ---- Oct 5th,"

1st season: 8
2nd: 8,5!

Very good. Thrilling story, beautiful cinematography, great characters. Alfred Hitchcock's first true suspense film.

Jacob's Ladder remake.

It's not as bad as the IMDb reviews say but they changed too much from the original and turned it into pretty mediocore horror movie. 5/10

It really is one of Hitchcock's best. Suspenseful all the way through. Fantastic actors, great story.

Godzilla : King of the Monsters 2019.

Actually, not that bad. Better than the 2014 Godzilla. Now I can't wait for the new Godzilla VS King Kong next year.

Mandy 7/10
Fight Club 10/10 (celebrated the movie anniversary by watching it in a cinema, still a masterpiece)
The Dead Don't Die 7/10 (pretty weak for Jarmusch)
Vox Lux 8/10
The Babadook 8/10
Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood 10/10 (definitely the best Tarantino's movie since Pulp Fiction)
The Hateful Eight 8/10 (yes, I haven't watched it until now, and that's weird)
Green Book 7/10 (not bad, but nothing really impressive except for the two leading roles; I don't get how it has been chosen over Roma for Best Picture)
Avengers: Endgame 5/10

I don't remember the whole plot in Fight Club but the last scene of collapsing buildings just out of the large windows is etched in my memory.

dark phoenix..

why. every scene, you just want to ask why. why was it done that way, why was it framed so poorly, why was the action non existant, why were the scenes so devoid of emotional power, why was the plot so dull, why were these characters written so shallow, why was everything they do so pointless and meandering. I hate the whole 'worst *** ever' thing, but really.. this film was such a mess, you cant even give it credit on a technical standpoint. it is objectively rubbish.
