Tell that to BF4. At least Ubi still puts their games on Steam.

EA tries to promote their cheap copy of Steam called Origin. I allways say: What is not on Steam it does not exist. EA games are bad so i am missing nothing :D

No, you are so bad. You don't know how to enjoy games.

I do. But only quality games. Not junk what EA mostly make. Short, boring milion times recycled storyline, half of game cut off and sold as DLC, bugs etc. Name 5 good games made by EA this year. You have no chance. If you do it is probably by really bad taste in games.

it's like saying that Lamborghini it's a cheap copy of Ford...some people claims that new things are bad or worst...well find out that Steam when came out was worst that u can imagine and now have milions of people...give a credit to origin who's only 2 years.
"EA games are bad so i am missing nothing" - i guess u have a wood pc and can't run EA's games...

I seriously don't understand the problem with Origin aside from having to use another "service". It's the exact same thing as Steam.

Origin even has a great refund policy and you can actually hide games in your library.

"I seriously don't understand the problem with Origin aside from having to use another "service". It's the exact same thing as Steam."
It has been stated time and time again, repeated all over the internet. This isn't a lack of understanding, it's a lack of effort.

People disliked Origin because of it's policies. The EULA, when agreed to, gives EA the right to collect data from your computer. Not specific data, just 'data'. Even though this is likely only used for game-related stuff, signing the dotted line to give legal permission for essential data-mining is a very bad idea, and the start of a very slippery slope. Yeah, you can click options within the Origin client to select certain kinds of info to share, but once they have your signature, they can happily bypass that on a whim and never have to disclose anything. Also, while it is in an awful lot of EULAs, the bit about forfeiting the right to certain legal action made a lot of people cringe, given EA's history. While used mostly to fend off frivolous class-action lawsuits from career gold-miners, litigious companies with this in the EULA can naturally make people shy away.

This EULA was combined with a beta launch of Origin that was mandatory to access your games or purchase new digital copies. Even now there are rather glaring problems with it that have been present for years, such as incomplete downloads ditching large amounts of data and re-downloading them repeatedly, and the fix/work-around they tell you is the same as back then (yet not patched). Origin was attached quite aggressively to EA products, along with it's associated EULA. Disagreeing to the EULA meant no access and no alternate. Thankfully we can patch things like The Sims 3 manually now, though they really made it difficult at first. I haven't checked wither Spore still attempts to force you to install Origin (kicking you out if you refuse) despite it being pre-Origin, but I at least know you can get around it by disconnecting from the internet so the old EADM won't even know Origin exists.

Then there were a few events of people completely losing access to their games because of being banned on the forums, which set a terrible precedent. By all means give someone the boot if they break the rules, but effectively revoking someone's license to a game they bought because they got banned from the forum? Even if they were an outright troll and got banned several times, that's still a bad idea.

Steam isn't really like Origin at all. They at least offer some transparency about the data being transmitted, and have a great reputation that really isn't even comparable to EA. Don't get me wrong, EA's live support system is great, and their refund policy is a cool touch, but it really amounts to a layer of make-up on an otherwise dubious digital platform. If they tweaked their EULA a bit, then it would be far more competitive (and draw back a lot of customers who 'evacuated'). There was really nothing with EA's old EADM approach, it didn't need an extra layer of data-mining even if they wanted a unified launcher/DRM step.

Sadly they have lost out of many sales just because people don't trust or like Origin. I'm one of those people. One of the main reasons why is because for what ever reason if you get banned in their forums your origin account gets locked too which means no more origin games.

They should have done the smarter thing (and still could) and release Mass Effect 3 and Dead Space 3 (and other games) on steam now that they got the bulk of the money they ever will from the sale of the games on Origin. I bought the first mass effect and enjoyed it, but was holding off on the second one till the 3rd one was ready, then they said sorry origin only. I didn't bother with Dead Space 1 or 2 for the same reason.

Its a shame, I would have bought all of them had then not been on Origin.

Same reason there is no Crysis 3 or Battlefield 3, EA doesn't let its 3's onto steam since Gabe Newell doesn't believe that there is such a number.

Starting 2009 all EA games are Origin exclusive.
Along with the fact that EA has all interest to promote Origin, there is also a problem in the way Steam and Origin handle games updates & DLCs.

Steam gets the game files preinstalled and the DLC's & updates are downloaded via the client itself.
Origin (as well as UPlay) on the other hand, downloads the retail version in the same format you find it on a DVD (installation kit) and runs this automatically to install the game. After that it deletes the installer.
The DLC's & updates are handled by the game itself, not by the client.

This lead to a conflict between EA & Valve since Valve wants every single bit to go through their client, not the game, that ended up with EA offering their games as Origin exclusive titles.
But even so, this was on their roadmap and would have happened, sooner or later.

However, I really don't see the problem with Origin. It's a simple client, with less features but other than that, it has no performance issues.
One fact sux however - the forum ID and Origin ID are linked and ban will reflect on both IDs.

It's because EA doesn't want your money. Anyway it's not a big loss that there's no EA games on steam, most of them is garbage anyway. Like origin.
