I hope that they like my idea. What would you guys think of a Steam Ramadan Sale.

Here's my post on the Steam forums: http://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/10/648814841684697020/

"I'm perfectly fine with the Steam Holiday sale and I am glad that Valve respects their community. However, being a Muslim, I was hoping Valve might host a "Steam Ramadan Sale" during Ramadan each year?

Instead of crafting snow globes, users would be able to craft Stars and Crescents. The Stars and Crescents could then be turned into items, such as Team Fortress 2 turbans and Dota 2 burkhas.

I believe that such an event would help showcase that Steam is a diverse international community of friends. You might even consider hosting sales for other major religions, such as a Steam Diwali Sale. Of course, Valve and game developers/publishers would make a lot of money off of the sale as well.

What does everyone think of my idea?"

If they're not going to have a real holiday sale named 'Christmas Sale' they're not going to do a 'Ramadan Sale'.. Just wouldn't make sense..

It's not a Christmas sale, it's a winter sale.

Why should the Muslim religion get a special sale when no other religions get a sale?

If Valve do that they'll have to introduce a sale for Christians, Jews, Hebrews, Buddhists, Sikhs and any other religions so that they don't appear to be favouring one group or another. Then they'll have to introduce a sale to keep the atheists and agnostics happy. And since neither of those have special seasons, it'll we'll have a year long sale and it'll loose the special feel.

TL;DR: Bad idea is bad.

^This.

Also, to many sales will lose publishers and developers...especially one after another. If you were to put every religions holidays back to back and special days you would be surprised how many sales would be in any particular week.

Will we ever have a sell to celebrate Poseidon's month (December). I think that Valve are very discriminating against people who believe in Ancient Greek religion.

Saigon, why do you gotta do this, mate? Are you seriously asking for a game site to make a sale acknowledging your religion or are you trolling?

Snow globes are hemispherist!

Actually, I'm quite impressed that the "Steam Autumn Sale" this year was actually the "Steam Spring Sale" for southies. It was a nice touch.

I would consider this a good idea from only one perspective: Taking all religious festivities and every thinkable celebration into account (what about a sale on 26th of October, the national holiday of Austria?) this would mean one simple thing:

Big sales every single day the whole year long! :)

Though I don't think my wallet would be any happy...

Can't tell if trolling, and assuming so makes me feel racist/anti-religion. It's called a winter sale, so I'm sure it tries to encapsulate without singling out holidays such as Ramadan and Kwanza. Diwali would only be relevant enough for the India region store, and a Ramadan specific event would only be well received/relevant in specific regions. Though it would actually be a good replacement for all of the Christmas/snow related imagery during the holiday sale, but in essence it would be a reskin of the same sales and activities. But really, most companies are secular for a multitude of reasons.

Only way I see them doing this is in there specific areas...instead of a Christmas sale they get a Ramadan sale or w.e...during there time.. as well as other religions for others and areas. Meh, idk. Lets just all agree to keep religion out of steam store. lets just add a Cake day...we all love Cake

We had summer, spring and autumn sales, now winter sales, absolutely nothing religion-related :)

Just pretend that the Summer Sale is really for Ramadan, just like Christians pretend that the Winter/Holiday Sale is really for Christmas.

note: I don't mean to imply this refers to all Christians, or all Muslims. In fact, it may only apply to one person. He probably lives in the Rocky mountains and is probably named Ted.
