Firefox needs a lot of RAM when you open multiple tabs because it creates a process tree. Each Flash ongoing on each page get it's own share...for example a video on Youtube + browsing on facebook needs 5001000 MB RAM on the main process + 150250 MB RAM for each page. But this is bcuz i give it high allowance, i have 8 GB RAM to feed it but it ussualy adapt to your system :)

Firefox with 150 tabs open including youtube music and conferences streaming ( yes ) no lagging whatsoever on 8Gram 2.2Ghz Linux. I did play around with the about:config a lot thought.

Firefox for actually browsing, chrome for when firefox is closed and I want to check something without loading up my million tabs
I ragequit chrome after accidentally deleting like 100 bookmarks, because there's no confirm to delete, or confirming closing all tabs if you use ctrl+shift+w

I use Chrome, with IE 11 and Firefox as backups. Used to have Opera and Safari too but since I don't do web development anymore I have no use for them.
