FWIW I'm not sure Apple were ever cool. They had their moment in the sun with the first non-grim MP3 player but they're generally the domain of people who take themselves way too seriously... no?

I had an iPhone 3GS and it was a great phone to me but there are a lot of downsides that just overweight iOS stability, which I consider the best thing iPhone has.
I'm curently using samsung galaxy s5 that's 2 years old now and still works great for me.
Considering I put my opinion here and that it's different than someones else, I would be shocked if I don't get a few blacklists :D
iPhone is a great device but if you're poor, and don't want to take one with expensive contract, try something else :)
Sorry for raising the heat up, it's 31 Celsius here anyway xD

i have owed them all at one time or another i would rate androids first, apples second, windows phones, then blackberrys and to be honest i have just become to used to the openness and customizability of androids to really mess with any of the other os's again they were all to restrictive in one way or another.

do you hear that?
yes, it's the sound of anti-apple fanboys coming to get you :"3
The Imperial Android Inquisition has been summoned!
Where is the heretic?

Se-senpai? I-It's you? I-I didn't want to sound mean, or anything... but Apple is way too overrated (and overpriced).
I guess I'll call the Inquisition out this time... But only because I like you ♥

if I did not break my G2, I would be totally happy with it even today!
the flagships of LG and old Nexus made by them are good IMO

i just bought Nexux5x.
it is considered the best midrange phone.
about 300$
edit: nexus 4 5 and5x are LG. 6 (new one) is Motorola i think

indeed, i saw that too and considered a downfall
however, it's super fast so far.
i haven't rooted since it's got warranty for a year, but i'm guessing once rooted it's even faster
consider this: this is Google phone. no outside apps from LG, samsung, or whatever.
plus, the android (even rooted ones) are MADE for this device, they are not fitted, or altered... just my thoughts
edit: AMAZING camera (saw you want to shitpost pictures). really, amazing
and i don't like smartphone pics. add camera details to the table if it matters to you. the Nexus5x has 13Mb with great quality (don't know lenses type)

Where are you from, OP? (Is it Iran? Based on your steam profile)
What's your first priority, btw? Each company's got their pros and cons.
(I know you're asking for android suggestion) Why not iPhone, op?
For gaming on phone, I'd prefer tablet for the screen size. I'm using Padfone S currently

Yeah, i live in Iran.
I have no priority but looking for a better Smartphone compared to its competitors in the same price range.
Gaming is not my priority but i like to know which one has better performance in different games.
I want to buy a smartphone as a mobile gadget, put it in my pocket and tablets are not an option for me.
iPhone models all are above my budget and just " iPhone 5c " and " iPhone 5s " are affordable options for me.
I'd be glad to hear your experience with these two models if you have had them and worked with them.

Okay, for me...it would be A7. 2nd choice: LG Nexus 5X http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=7759&idPhone2=7556
Super AMOLED (AMOLED's colors degrade over time) / Big Battery / 16 GB is good enough + MicroSD slot /
Camera 13 MP (more than enough) / 3.5. mm jack (could be used for radio, too) / fast charging (beware of fake charger!)
A few notes about smartphone:
About iPhone: My family members have 5s. From my experience, it's okay.
The size fits (not too big, not too small). Somehow, I feel okay with the closed ecosystem of iOS.
It feels like a "Premium Quality" thing, you know. Their default Apps just works and you don't feel like you need a replacement.
(I didn't own an iPhone, btw)

You may consider bying an older one an fix it with Cyanogenmod. I have Galaxy S3 with Android 6.01 running on it. Very smooth xD

What Silverio said seems to apply to most Samsung models. I would suggest to avoid Samsung. I had a cheap one myself (absolute garbage btw), but I know quite a few people that did have more expensive Samsungs phones and all said the same thing.

I recently replace my Galaxy S4 with an Honor 7 which fits your budget. The only features I'm missing that the S4 had are MHL which I only used a handful of times to watch stuff on the TV when my laptop was out of commission and NFC which I never once used. The S4 was free on contract whilst I bought the Honor 7 at less than half of what the S4 would have cost me new if I'd bought it at the time I took the contract.
I haven't really done much gaming on it but the reviews I did check seemed to indicate favourable performance.

I have a cheap dual SIM Android 5 phone from China, a Cubot X12. It cost me less than £80 (which is about $120 I'm guessing?) and easily out-performs most branded ones. That said, I also bought a cheap off-brand tablet, which turned out to have factory-installed malware. Your mileage may vary but if you're careful you can get some fantastic deals on the interwebs. :)

Honestly, i just wanted to buy a cheap one for around 100$-150$ like you but then my mother told me why you don't spend the whole money on a phone. You can't buy anything by the remaining fund if you buy a cheap one [ Since the cheap ones are not that much cheap here because of the value of currency ] :)

I can highly recommend the OnePlus phones, or at least the OnePlus One. You're getting high-end features for a mid-range price.

it's slow, everything takes more clicks than I'm used to, and the virtual keyboard has a tendency to disappear fairly often (such as when I'm in the middle of typing an email)
And that's ignoring certain inefficiencies, such as two separate email clients, two separate photo sorting apps, and what's probably the worst contacts app I've ever seen.

I have a Zenfone 2, and it's compatible with everything. The only thing you should know is Asus is quite slow with major updates...i still have Lollipop (Marshmallow will be relased soon). I like it, but i don't know if they'll release Android N (probably not).

I've had Moto G3 for a while now and it seems to be a really good one for it's price. As for performance I haven't had a problem with it for now, I don't game a lot on mobile but any game I tried it ran smoothly with no FPS drops. Haven't tried any heavier like Nova 3 but looking at youtube videos it seems to run it smoothly too.
Nexus 5/5x is something I could also recommend as it's a really stable one and has even better specs + it's in the same price range and it runs on stock android which for me makes it even better.

I had no plan to buy a smartphone but since my mother lift restriction on a money has come from nowhere so i have the permission to spend it on something and i've decided to buy a smartphone.
I don't know how much exactly my budget [ in local currency ] worth after converting to US Dollar but i guess the budget is around 300$-350$ and that support a mid-range android smartphone, i guess!.
So i started searching about Smartphones and to be honest didn't consider these Xiaomi , Huawei in my search and just looked at " HTC, Samsung, Sony, Asus " phones.
Gaming is NOT my first priority but because as a gamer gaming is in our blood so decided to search about phones in this price range and their performance in games :
I don't have priority so any android phone from HTC, Samsung, Sony, Asus for around 300-350$ is welcomed and i'll check it.
I personally have no problem by Xiaomi , Huawei, or any whatsoever-mi-or-wei companies if you convince me that their product has the same quality, durability, as companies like HTC, Samsung, ...... .
