I had no plan to buy a smartphone but since my mother lift restriction on a money has come from nowhere so i have the permission to spend it on something and i've decided to buy a smartphone.

I don't know how much exactly my budget [ in local currency ] worth after converting to US Dollar but i guess the budget is around 300$-350$ and that support a mid-range android smartphone, i guess!.

So i started searching about Smartphones and to be honest didn't consider these Xiaomi , Huawei in my search and just looked at " HTC, Samsung, Sony, Asus " phones.

Gaming is NOT my first priority but because as a gamer gaming is in our blood so decided to search about phones in this price range and their performance in games :

Brand Model GPU Game Test
Samsung Galaxy A7 ( 2016 Edition ) ARM Mali-T720 MP2 Nova 3 with Lag and low fps ======> Youtube Link
Asus Zenfone 2 Deluxe Edition PowerVR G6430 Run Nova 3 Smoothly ======> Youtube Link
Sony Xperia Z3+ Dual Qualcomm Adreno 430 Run Nova 3 Smoothly ======> Youtube Link
LG G4 Dual Qualcomm Adreno 418 Run Nova 3 Smoothly ======> Youtube Link
LG Nexus 5X Qualcomm Adreno 418 -
Huawei Honor 7 Mali-T628 MP4 Run Nova 3 Smoothly ======> Youtube Link

  • I like AMOLED display on Samsung A7 but i don't know about Asus display quality.
  1. I don't have priority so any android phone from HTC, Samsung, Sony, Asus for around 300-350$ is welcomed and i'll check it.

  2. I personally have no problem by Xiaomi , Huawei, or any whatsoever-mi-or-wei companies if you convince me that their product has the same quality, durability, as companies like HTC, Samsung, ...... .

  • If i buy a Smartphone then it's a start for spamming my threads by photos of everything. :P

Samsung Galaxy A7 [ 2016 Edition ]
Asus Zenfone 2 Deluxe Edition
Neither [ who knows, I may add a better suggestion ]

I use the ZenFone 2 and it's so good, I actually bought another one as a gift for my sister. It's worth noting that the ZenFone 3 is coming out soon, so you might want to hold out for that.

I'm a Z3 user and I love it. Last longer than Samsung >_>
Maybe because I'm a Sony lover from Sony Ericsson to Xperia.

I'd highly recommend you to check out Xiaomi Phones coming out lately. I, myself, have a Redmi Note 3 Pro which i definetly can recommend.
The phones are cheap and have high Price/Performance tag.

Do yourself a favour and don't buy one of those overpriced brands. When you go Xiaomi, you never go back.

Seriously, I bought this and all of my friends who use a Samsung or Apple phone are truly jealous.

Hmmm smartphone technology is changing so fast, so I prefer cheap one, currently using xiaomi (around $180) ^^
Not for gaming but have many running apps, battery is very good on standby
I'm pretty clumsy with little things too, it has fallen on floor around 5 times/year, still going strong

bonus:

  • my brother using lg g4, pretty good because it have removable battery and extra battery bonus, but once he have to bring it to service center because of famous hardware fault
  • my brother previous phone is nexus 5, great phone with vanilla android but have weak battery, he replaced it because of this
  • my friend super happy with his z3 ^^ He recommend it to everyone but it so expensive here

final verdict: lg g4

If you consider ASUS, don't choice Zenfone 2 series (Intel CPU). 2 Laser will be much stable.

But what about the warranty?

If your actually serious about it.
Only 5% of people use the first year of warranty.
So lets math a bit.
Iphone - 800$ - 1 year warranty
Xiaomi - 300$ - no warranty - 5% chance of malfunction

Both phones have an average life cycle of two years. These are my thoughts only... But i think its better to have a possibility to buy a new phone every year for the same price =) and dont bother with all the warranty
Why Xiaomi and not OnePlus for example ? Xiaomi is a huge company witch can supply the demands (for example 110 million redmi(cheap) sold in couple of months) when OnePlus can have problems witch can result in more malfunctions

So if they sell you a broken phone (or even is damaged during shipment)? I can assume the risk at lower prices (my phone is a THL) but $300 for me is a lot.
BTW I have been checking xiaomi phones lately (my THL has already 3 years) but a lower model, something like the redmi 3S.released yesterday.

Well no, it depends where you buy ofcourse.
I bought already some xiaomi phones.
Once had a problem it didnt shipped to me. Long story short the seller made sure i got my phone =) I lost some money on the time (more than a month i had to wait (extra) and the price went down, but the dollar went up comparing to my currency) so the seller kindly gave me a case and some screen protectors =)
Basically it depends on where you buy =) But you will definitely get a working phone, the warranty part is how you use it =)
Funny story, in my country Sony declines warranty if the phone had contact with water even tho they market it waterproof =)

I strongly recommend the OnePlus phones.
Those are affordable with your wallet, got impressive specs and a really good quality.
I never regretted purchasing my OneplusOne. Added a case of the manufacturer and a Rhino Shield for the screen to it to prevent it from damage. Still looks like new :-)

Avoid Samsung. I only heard bad things about them (and had bad experience on a cheap one myself). Huawei seems to be a good brand though. I don't have personal experience with it, but the people I know that have them, are very positive about it.

None of the above, and for the love of humanity don't buy an ancient iPhone that will work increasingly worse due to Apple's giant software updates to paralyze older phones and force you into getting new ones.

Wait until Sony Xperia XA comes out in your region. Google it.

I actually suggested a Wileyfox to a colleague a few weeks ago and she's very happy with it.

I have a Nexus 5X and wouldn't recommend it. Feels slow and laggy, slower than the Oneplus One I had previously. This seems to be the opinion of quite a few other people.

If you are looking for android, I highly recommend you look at Republic Wireless if you are in the USA. Been with them for 3 years now, no contract, and next month they have 7 new handsets released... The best bit, my bill is routinely under $20 a month. Worth a look.
