N...
Is this the form of "wasting" like you're shooting the money? "I wasted those guys did you see that?!"
Because I feel like giveaways are a noble cause ;p

That's what you get when you exclude them from entering your gibs ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Won't someone please think of the level 11+ users!

Bought Shovel Knight today... for the third time. (Playstation Cross-buy [PS4/PS3/Vita] today... Wii U and Steam before that.)
PRO TIP - if you have a PS3, Vita, and/or PS4 - buying the PS4 digital version gives you all 3, and it's the cheapest option ATM for only $10.04.

Thanks a bunch for informing! damn bad I don't have the money now... I guess I'll have to ask someone to buy it for me, because is now or never.

Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment is almost here! Specter Knight’s own somber story will be a free update to all existing versions of Shovel Knight

It's tempting but those graphics, it's 2017 my eyes just can't handle them, starts to give me a headache after a while, I like games that are easy on the eyes (don't have to be groundbreaking graphics but at least find the good middle ground)
I bought Hollow Knight instead

So if you own Shovel Knight the Specter of Torment will be a free update if you own Shovel Knight already before the update. However if you don't own it and want to buy it after the update release they are repacking it with the $10 Specter of Torment and charging $25.

refund. you have two weeks or 2 hours. sure, it might not be the intended purpose, but it's not like people are going to guilt you about it.
the game is probably not terribly difficult, though. just think of mega man difficulty if you played them.

... I'm terrible at Mega-man games. I've only ever finished Megaman Zero on the GBA, and I had to cheat from an early point to do it. :/
2D platformers are not my strong suit, I guess. I enjoy them, and some of the modern indie ones are fairly easy. But any of the old-school, "Nintendo hard" kind of games are a huge struggle for me.

I wouldn't say Nintendo hard because some Nintendo games were dumb hard, but I think Mega Man games were outside of it. The Megaman Zero games are actually harder than the NES games, I thought, for the boss fights since I had trouble with them. I think Shovel Knight is easier than the NES Mega Man games while the bosses are almost the same in challenge, but maybe you really struggle with them.
I'd just buy and refund if you had any interest in it, but it wasn't your kind of game in the end. Just keep in mind you only had two weeks to refund or you have to beg support if you really want one.

Shovel Knight is easier than Mega Man. And as Jiseru said, Zero was harder than the original games. Shovel Knight is also a darn fine game, and it's in many ways better than the games that inspired it. Had it been released on the NES, it would likely have been considered the best game on the system, it's that good.

When the price increases, you will also have the choice to buy a single campaign for a cheaper price(presumably a third of the full price)

its getting a lot more content, is a great game, and owners are not charged, and even more reasons to get a good game.
Comment has been collapsed.
You try to add an expansion as DLC, people bitch about it. You instead try to expand the base game, people bitch about it.
Gamers demand ALL THE CONTENT for pennies.

To be fair, it will be three campaigns at that point, with another one and a new mode still to come

I agree it's a pretty strange move, but presumably it's to be able to heavily discount it during sales and still receive the price they would normally accept. If people haven't bought it yet, not sure why they would be likely to pay more than it used to cost.
Comment has been collapsed.
You probably don't comprehend that doing so you will only get the base game without expansions.
Getting the game now, before the price changes, will get you the base game and all the DLCs for almost 10€.
Waiting for summer sale 2018 will get you only the base game for probably ~10€.
That's the main change. With Shovel Knight, it's always been implied that possessors of the base game would get the DLCs for free whenever they come out (and so it was for the Plague of Shadows DLC, the one that added Plague Knight as a playable character).
Now on it won't be like this. The base game's main price will be 25€ (instead of 15€ for everything) and the DLCs must be purchased on their own.
That's why people discuss this. This is the last time SK will cost 10€ for the whole package.
It's also gonna be hard to find a deal good enough in 2018. SK never went under 10€. The best price has always been 10.04€.
This is the chance.

What you're saying is not true.
You'll still be able to purchase Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove which will contain all 3 campaigns (Shovel of Hope, Plague of Shadows, and Specter of Torment) in one package. But you'll also be able to purchase any of the above campaigns individually.
But you're probably right that the current price is the lowest that the whole package will be for at least the next year or so.

Looks like a game I'd play. I would probably not be very good at it, but I'd still enjoy it.:)
BUMP!

Could point that the game is on discount right now as well:
http://store.steampowered.com/app/250760/
So, it's up for $10. It's 33% discount, considering the current $15 pricetag, but if you think it'll cost $25, it's a 60% discount, that might take a while to arrive.
Basically, the game would have "free DLCs" forever, which were basically updates/expansions.
Then they decided to expand even more the DLCs, and noticed that the game would end up being "too cheap" for the amount of content/work they'd be putting into it.
So, the current version of the game will become the "Treasure Trove", basically the "Complete Pack", which includes all current released and future DLCs.
And the DLCs will actually split in separate games, I guess standalone ones, and the "default campaign" will be called Shovel of Hope. Something like that.
EDIT: also, I guess the giveaways created for it will be worth 25P as well, instead of 15P?

according to how the site works, if a game's price changes so does its "CV' which is why people sometimes lose CV or gain it. So yeah, it will become 25P, I guess, if the appid changes instead of adding a new one..? I'm not sure it will become 25 unless its page gets updated.
I forgot to link to the store page, but I indicated that it's $10 on sale (in the thread title)
It's in the article, though. I don't really "think" it, but I see no reason to believe they are lying about it. The price is going up to $25. Just so the fact is clear and all.

Sorry, I didn't express myself correctly. The "you think" wasn't meant that you were implying it.
I mean that "if we consider that...". I guess I just made a literal translation from portuguese, where the "you think" means that.
So, it's 33% discount over the $15 price tag. But we could already see it as a 60% discount over the future $25 price tag.
Yatch Club games already had confirmed that they'd do this change in their pricing model back in January:
http://yachtclubgames.com/2017/01/switch-up/
Once again, sorry if I wasn't clear about my message.
Basically, if you get Shovel Knight before the release of Specter of Torment, your Shovel Knight will be converted to "Treasure Trove", which is a complete pack, and will receive all current and future DLCs. It will cost $25, for future buyers.
Otherwise, the "cheaper" version of the game and DLCs will probably cost $10 each. The "base" version without DLC will be called Shovel of Hope.

No, it's fine.. I think once words sound as fact it can sometimes confuse other people reading. That's the only reason I tried to make it clear with my response. I didn't really fill the thread with details, though, but I figure the price change to $25 sometime after March 2nd is enough and the DLC is free for current owners is too.
Words are tough when mixing through languages, too.

Shovel Knight (Steam)
Shovel Knight (GOG)
Shovel Knight (Humble; $9.04 with Monthly discount)
$10 sale ends March 2nd for any place they were able to get them going.
DLC#0: Shovel Knight becomes Shovel Knight Treasure Trove (most likely to distinguish it from the rest of the added DLC, but mostly to advertise it as a complete package I GUESS)
DLC#1: Plague of Shadows is already released.
DLC#2: Specter of Torment releases in April (?) unless delayed.
DLC#3: Shovel Knight: King Knight’s (name TBD) releases sometime in 2017
Announcement article http://yachtclubgames.com/2017/02/specter-of-torment-and-treasure-trove-initial-release-date/
.
this means all DLC, the unreleased Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows and Shovel Knight: King Knight’s (I think this too?), are free if you own it before April (but the price goes up to $25 in March)*
oh yeah
The answer: yes
(oops. I had the wrong question)
I don't.. know!! The publisher or dev (?) might respond on the Steam forums, so lurk this and wait for an answer. I looked this up just to see, but I don't have any answers that aren't in the article. I don't want to give possible false information is all. Here are better details for Shovel Knight and the DLC for free. Basically, you get it if you own Shovel Knight.
